Indeed! Bought the same box set myself, to bone up on Alien before going to watch Prometheus the other week. I've still to get to 3/4, as I havent seen them for a while it will be interesting to see how they view now, as well as what others opinions are on them post Prometheus.

I think I own them all on DVD already, although not as the multi-disc "Quadrilogy" boxset. I notice that the Blu-Ray of the "Quadrilogy" is very reasonably priced at the moment and am in two minds whether to get it or not. I can't help thinking that Alien and Aliens might look a bit naff in high definition, for example the slim guy in a rubber suit may really look like one.

Didn't she say that when she wanted the massive alien to come towards her trap of teh massive squid created by black liquid infected pineapple chunk?
You know the massive alien who didn't need to kill her at all because she would have died anyway. You know the one who would have had no idea where she was but he did have more ships he could have gone to and completed his mission. That one.

I too have the DVD quadrilogy, and having seen the blu-ray quadrilogy priced at £15, it would be rude not to get it

I cant remember if they did or not. They also managed to wedge in, 'Klaatu barada nikto', 'Luke, I am your father', 'Ba-weep-graghna-weep-nini-bong' and 'Afghanistan banana-stand.'

Do you not know the part i'm referring to in the other films here or are you just poking fun at the perceived quality of the film?

I wonder if the SJs have got a little out of hand. At the beginning, they seem gentle, and create life on planets. At the end, they have that bio suit built in to them and seem to worship the xenonorph. I think they're going back to earth to turn everyone into xenomorphs.
I can't wait to see the next part and get answers. I also want to find out what the SJs were running from and what killed them.

Watched this on Saturday and to be honest I found it disappointing Visually it was very, very impressive and I thought Fassbender, Elba and Theron did great jobs and Noomi Rapace was solid. But character development was non-existant and at no point did I actually care whether any of them lived or died. In the wider plot far too many things were either not covered at all or had to be extrapolated in a very fuzzy way, there seemed to be very little rational behaviour amongst the characters - I know making bad decisions and reaping the consequences is something of a theme for the Alien-universe but some of the stuff these characters did went beyond that to the point of so little sense as to leaving me unable to believe that someone would do it. And as good as it was visually it was rubbish aurally - the score seemed to be all over the shop and seemed to be shoe-horning more and more orchestras in at every opportunity to try and fill the gaping holes in the experience - which didn't work and instead just grated on me. Overall the film just didn't build any tension, it didn't encourage me to suspend my disbelief and while I'm a big fan of the sort of film that makes me think about what I've seen and provokes debate amongst fans etc (I don't even have a problem with having to see a film more than once to try and understand what was going on e.g. Primer) but the filmmakers need to capture my interest and make me hungry for more detail than they provide up front and for me at least they failed in this case. If I had to rate the film I'd give it a 6/10 at best

My colleague who saw it at the IMAX at Waterloo over the weekend has reported back much the same. It seems a majority of people are forming this opinion.
