Practical. The set for this is MASSIVE, real proper movie making!

At least that's first acid test passed - pun intended.

The world created by riddley in the first film needs to look lived in and cgi is still too artificial looking imo.

I still think Jurassic park had the best combo of live action and cgi, and that was at the start.

As far as I am concerned they should have stopped after Aliens. The first two films were perfect, anything which has had Aliens in the title since has been sh*t and I include all the AvP films in that too. Look at the story and property, the alien is one of the most iconic creatures on film ever created and yet time and again they've managed to b*lls it up. There was even excellent plots and source material from the Aliens\AvP books and comics but instead they decided to go off on a tangent every single time. I would have prefered a proper sequel to Aliens or a decent AvP film which possibly utilised some of the material from the comics.

This may be ok as it at least it has some of the original creators attached to it but I won't get my hopes up until I see it for myself. Have been bitterly disappointed before.

yes
When you look at what the comics threw up, one really has to wonder what kind of arses for brains were in the producers heads when they commissioned the poor stories of Alien³ onwards....
Earth was the logical progression...and in my head, an alien world with an Emperor alien.
edit, stupid auto correct

Absolutely agree. Ripley's story arc would have been perfectly completed with an Alien earth invasion as this is what she was stuggling so hard to prevent in movies 1 and 2. Instead we got a very weak 3rd film (IMO) and it just got worse from there. As for the AvP films, I try to blank them out and pretend they don't exist. A crying shame considering the huge potential of the source material.

So, the humans running off with the secret, and a lone Alien God chasing them, doesnt remind you of the aliens in the film AvP Requiem, when the aliens are all over a town, and a lone predator goes after them, to 'clean' up the mess??

Well OK but I think thats a bit of a tenuous link...

In AvP thats the whole of the story really whereas in the (supposed) script I posted thats really the end game of the film (I assume) - there's a lot going on before that.

Sounds pretty good to me. It certainly can't be any worse than alien 3.

...and interestingly none of what he says (although to be fair he doesn't say much) hints at a different storyline to the one thats been leaked.

Just found this tit-bit on the Hollywood Reporter site:

"Scott has also confirmed that the ship in the movie is called Prometheus, and that it is sent from Earth on a mission by the sort of all-powerful corporation that were such a big force in the original Alien movies. [The Hollywood Reporter]"

Again - this doesn't conflict with the leaked script, in fact it kinda dovetails in with it.

Fair point. I'll still watch it, lets be honest, it can't be any worse than AvP really, or predators, which bizarrely, i enjoyed even though it was a bit naff, but then i also enjoyed The Expendables silly

Certainly has a good cast. I think Fassbender must be just about the hottest property in hollywood at the moment, for a start.

I thought Predators was a pretty good film, was something of a homage to the original film.

The AVP films were terrible though, the only interesting part about them was showing the beginning of the Weyland Yutani Corporation.

20th Century Fox has released an official synopsis for Ridley Scott's de facto Alien prequel:

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life's ultimate mystery.

### Update ###

A 20th Century Fox representative told the website io9 that the synopsis which hit the net yesterday is not real at all.

Thats the one I posted on page 1 of this thread - Funnily enough I'm not convinced. scratchchin

Yep - I've just heard that from another source now. Apparently the Space Jockey set is behind the Bond set and is indeed massive. The tunnel (pictured below?) leads to the 200ft SJ set I'm told.

Anyway - here's that and some other set pictures:
