I've invested the money I would potentially spend on seeing Prometheus 2 into a ticket to see Alien and Aliens on halloween at my local Vue, much better decision.

It's currently available "for free" (as in, 'at no extra cost') on Amazon Prime Video to Amazon Prime subscribers. Of which I am one.

I can't bring myself to sit through it a second time, even for free. Once at the cinema was enough.

If you liked the original film and have a games console buy Alien Isolation. Absolutely fantastic game...and terrifying.

But happens to the existing Aliens sequels? Is this going to ignore Alien 3 etc or will this be based after those? If the latter they are going to have to do so serious jiggery pokery as Alien 3 basically shat over most of the characters and story in Aliens from a great height so I'd really prefer if they just pretended that Aliens 3 didn't happen at all.

One of the movie sites is reporting it will come after Promethus 2, so it will link between that series and the original Alien.

However another is saying it will be after Aliens and we'll just pretend that 3, Resurrection and the AVP films never happened.

Definitely scope to sit between the two if Ripley isn't in it. For a start the very fact that the Nostromo mission went black would elicit a response of some kind. Cue more colonial marines fighting those aliens not killed in the blast. Plus the marines would also have some robots with rabbit ears and power armour given who's directing
