Well blow me! (please).

Thats 29 pages (or 580 posts) about a film thats still days away from release - a pre-release thread record on PH surely?

Lets just hope that statistic isn't inversely proportional to the quality of the film.

Roll on Friday.

Oh, just read an interview with Damon Lindelof about the possibility of a follow-up:

"One of the things we've always said, that makes Prometheus not a direct prequel of Alien, is that if there were a sequel to Prometheus – and, God willing, there will be if people like it – then it will not be Alien. This film ends in a way that goes off at a different tangent to the original Alien. If you see Alien straight after, you will see it in a context that didn't exist for you before, but it's not going to do anything to change the story of Alien. Prometheus has to go off in its own new bold direction, and hopefully it does so. Ridley certainly wants to do more."

Watched Alien and Aliens last night.
Its going to be tough to match them, especially Aliens biggrin

Im not expecting the same, but really pray for something at least as good.
Hope the CGI is excellent and doesnt ruin it....

Well, apparently there's been a French press review and some of the leaking feedback isn't all positive.

Some people are saying it's great. Others are saying it's long and boring. I hope the latter are people who haven't understood it.

But, then it took my reading of 2010 to really understand what the light gate was all about in 2001...

Interesting comments from Ridley Scott about the original Alien

Ridley - who has been busy promoting his new film Prometheus - also revealed how he initially wanted to kill off Sigourney Weaver at the end of Alien, before the studio intervened.

"I thought that when the alien went for her in the shuttle, he should actually slam his fist through her helmet and kill her. Then you cut to the desk, and a shadow of the alien's head comes over, and the finger of the alien starts tapping out coordinates, with obvious intelligence," he said.

"But when I suggested that to the studio, they had an executive out there on set within 24 hours, saying, 'You will not do that!' And I guess they were right, because Sigourney made a great run of Ripley," he added.

I think you need to go on a nerdy film forum - there were probably 30 pages before it was even announced speculating about it! nerd

Please don't post the French Film Critics Reviews until after the release of the film on Friday as:

1. They're French
2. They prefer 'Arty' stuff
3. They are judging it against Alien/Aliens
4. They generally don't like SF even cerebral SF
5. Most reviews have been run through Google-translate
5. Did I mention, they're French

Alternately use the /spoiler function.

This is the pre-release\hype\speculation thread which I predict will be longer than the actual viewed thread as anticipation is usually more exciting than the final product but then such is often the way with films (and sometimes life) smile

Sounds good.

The amount of films I like that otehrs think are long and boring is long.

2001 being one of them.

Otherwise it'll be Prometheus had landed, let's get out the ship, ooh look at that little creature with an evil face, oops it's gone down my throat, rah rah rah i'm an angry monster thing and i'm going to kill you all, ship gets mullered, someone else gets infected, more rah rah rah monsters, ooh look they want to go to earth to see what it's like, not on my watch, smash Prometheus into alien ship, the end. Or so we think?
Are you the scriptwriter?

That's a good ending.
