Rise of the Planet of the Apes
Discussion
during the film they also show the mars mission taking off, then later a newspaper headline saying the ship has been lost in space, which will be how the second film starts, with the lost ship returning to earth but thinking its another planet populated by intelligent apes,"damn you all to hell" etc.

I thinks thats just an Easter Egg for old school fans (like the model statue of liberty) rather than a huge plot device!cazzer said:
A genuine question.
We keep getting told that apes are on the brink of extinction yada yada yada.
So how many apes are there on this planted compared with 6 billion humans with guns?
I suspect the people saying apes are in danger are not the same as those saying apes will take over the world. You'll probably find one are conservationist and the other film makers! We keep getting told that apes are on the brink of extinction yada yada yada.

No, you're not the only one. I thought it was pretty dreadful too. It felt like half a film, and not the good half either.
+1 Read a five star review that said essentially cgi was now at that crossover point with reality. Hmm...some of the CGi I couldn't tell at all, stunning - however I thought a big chunk was pretty obvious. Not a great script - James Franco's character's reactions to certain situations were dumb founding to me. Nothing to really get your teeth into - a popcorn movieAlthough they're entirely different films it wasn't a patch on Super 8 (for me anyway).
4 outa 10 from me,dire CGI you could see the painted in scenes especially on several indoor shots.
Shame because i really wanted to like it, it never really got anywhere and all ended up on the now standard bridge shootout like the incredibles did and many more recent films have involving a helicopter and some shooting...Boring zzzzzzz.

Watched nit, thought it was ace, much better than I would have hoped. I saw the credits bit, stayed till the very end...just in case...
The spaceship bit is good, makes it all nice and connected for film fans.
The greats apes (with one exception) are all in decline. Sad to see, our closest cousins getting treated like that. Made me want the end of the dumb great ape in the film all the more
