Completely agree.
I wonder whether that's inevitable now? Because the technology used in both is similar and closing the gap.

It doesn't look like computer games that I've played, because I've got a Wii. But it's clearly CGI and we're all CGI cynics now, so as soon as we spot CGI, we've sussed it and we're no longer convinced.

We won't give it the benefit of the doubt ever again.

that final swinging scene - its not spiderman its a mirrors edge cut-scene

i didnt see any reason to do a reboot - they should've just carried on the story.

reboot daredevil by all means though as well as ghostrider.

There's a Ghost Rider sequel coming, you know.

Really?
Dear god.

Oh and to the Amazing Spiderman: the OH and I eat these movies up at the theater every time, but this time we'll pass. Such a top-level remake only 10 years after the first one? And only 5 years after the last one in the franchise? Has that ever been done before?
It feels very, very redundant, as suggested on this thread, countless other interesting characters in the marvel universe to explore, or better ones to reboot (see above).

That said, I thought the Incredible Hulk was 10x better than the Hulk, but then that wasn't really good imho. And the new one had Edward Norton in it.

The Avengers will have none of that, instead having Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk.

I agree. Moon Knight would be one I would like to see.
And yeh, Hulk was just meh, the Incredible Hulk was quite good, but why couldn't they source Norton for the Avengers line up? What fell apart there, hope it doesn't suck like the FF films.

Probably, as usual, a simple question of $$$ or planning.

I think that Robert Downy Jr. eats up half the casting budget as well, so we could blame him.

But then again, he's a great Tony Stark so all is forgiven hehe

edit:

IMDB said:
Edward Norton was originally set to reprise his role from The Incredible Hulk but negotiations between him and Marvel Studios broke down. Norton was replaced with Mark Ruffalo.

---

Negotiations between Norton and Marvel eventually broke down, and the role was instead offered to Mark Ruffalo, who accepted. Norton wrote a public response to the decision on his Facebook page, stating that he will not appearing in The Avengers, but thanked Marvel Studios for considering letting him reprise the role.
Probably money, though we can only guess.

Personally I'd like to see the Lensman series filmed and put up on the big screen. I did hear a rumour a while back that a Dan Dare film was on the cards.

After a quick read, that sounds good.

There is a graphic novel thread.
I would like to see Y:The Last Man be a film, Accident Man, and we already have The Walking Dead. Though HBO serial might be better suited for some.

edit
sounds a bit like how the last three series of Stargate went.

I think Norton and Marvel had quite a public falling out during the production, so he was unlikely to ever return.

Apparently in Iron Man, the highest paid actor was erm.....Terrence Howard.... who knows why, but that will have been why he was replaced in II.

I read that and was thinking, bullst! I don’t recall anyone outside of Stark, Rhodes, Stane, Potts, Fury SHIELD man who I could even recall, so I googled the name, haha, I didn't even realise Rhodes had changed actor...shows how great his acting/character wasbiggrin

imo they shouldn't have had him in it so much anyway, Rhodes is such a secondary character and wasn't there at the start.

Depends on how far they are going to take this franchise, but War Machine plays a pretty important role in the comics/animations of Iron Man. You also see him taking that part in Iron Man 2.

When I started reading Iron-Man in the 80s there was no war machine, Rhodes was Iron-Man in the Secret Wars, due to Stark being injured. I read in that article Faverau wanted to go back to the 80s Iron-Man, not sure when War machine rumbled along, prolly with one of the reboots, the cartoons are a meshy mish-mash of reboots. I always thought war-machine was a lacklustre effort to pump interest back into Iron-Man, a bit disappointed that they rushed it in straight from the beginning. Iron-Man was always better on his own.

New full trailer released and, I'm not too proud to admit it, I may need to eat a dose of humble pie as this looks better than expected.

Still not convinced by Andrew Garfield in the lead as he comes across, when in costume, in a similar way to the Spiderman of the old 80's TV series.

OK, that looks a lot better than I thought it might, and 100 times better than the Avengers.

Glad to see the Lizard is the bad guy, but feel disappointed that (can't recall his name) that fella who ripped off Bill Hicks is in it, and that there is no mention of Jonah J Jameson.
Also nice to see they have Spidey as he is in the comics, and not the genetically altered one from the last film. Although that was a decent twist.

This does look like it could be better than the first trailer I saw last year. However, not sure if Garfield looks geeky enough to be Peter Parker.

Think I will be going to see this, should be a good summer of films...

Slightly off topic, but this video of Spiderman being sketched is pretty cool, especially if you like Spiderman...

Denis Leary. Does it really matter? Lee Evans practically ripped off the Agent Picolax story in his last DVD yet people still think he's brilliant.

I don't know what agent picolax is. No matter what Lee Evans faults are, did he lift himself from obscurity by lifting the style, persona and material of a genuinely funny man? Regardless of what Evans does it's not pertinent to this. I don't like Leary. His theft lifted himself beyond the boundaries of his talent. That's why for me he tends to drag films down a notch.
