There was a thread in N,P&E that had to be chopped due to a complaint from a member of the "travelling" community about the "racial" connotations of the word .
I started a thread in Website Feedback suggesting that if it's going to cause the mods/management that much hassle, why didn't they add it to the swear filter. This was very tongue in cheek but was taken literally by those above.

FWIW I think that pikies are scum, but I don't have a problem with genuine travelling gypsies. Not really the words of someone profesionally offended.
