It seems this is a divisive film. I personally loved it.

Now to further divide opinion the BBC are showing it tomorrow night, but rescored... by Zane Lowe. It features a bunch of popular at the moment bands like Chvrches, The 1975 and some guy from Biffy Clyro etc. A few tracks have come out, and I actually happen to think it might be okay (but I quite like Chvrches).

The difficult thing is that amongst those who did like it, quite often the sound track was a big part of their enjoyment. So messing around with it is a risky move.

Personally, I really like the film, but I'm not sure how much I feel about the version on tomorrow night. Chucked it onto record so shall see how it goes, cheers for the heads up

Set the BBC version to record.. For me though, it was the stylistic quality of the film I enjoyed, soundtrack included. Also, some of the artists that are doing it are a bit mainstream but I won't pass judgement until I've seen it I guess.

That sounds really odd, the music was a really integral part of the movie for me.

Gosling miscast
I think that was the problem with the film for me. I turned it off after half an hour.

I'll give it another go tonight.

I think he does the part well. Nice to not have some usual action guy for once.

Not sure about the BBC R1 version, will give it a go. Dont think the opening music by Kavinsky will ever be matched. And Bastille are fking st

No way was Gosling miscast.

He's good at moody SOBs: The Believer, Full Nelson, Ides of March

Watching the R1 version now. So far, so good. I'm enjoying it. I haven't seen the 'original' yet but even so, really liking this (saying the guy who watched Need for Speed last night and enjoyed that too) smile

Just flicked this on. Can't remember the original soundtrack tbh, except that I loved the film.

What's the background to this rescore?

Have seen the original a few times, this soundtrack certainly seems a bit more obvious and intrusive than the original.

Been flicking back and forth a few times. Original is far better. This car chase is awesome with no score just the cars. Zane had fking drum and bass on it!

I must admit, I'm not enjoying this re-score. I'm not sure the point of it was to try and emulate the original in any way but I feel they have, badly.

What's that? Zane Lowe's disappeared up his own arse? Who'd have thought it. No doubt they'll be gushing about it all day long on Radio 1 tomorrow.

Speaking of which, has anyone noticed those fking presenters seem to have every other week off?

The problem isn't so much the music as the mix; the levels feel wrong. It's almost like watching a dubbed Youtube video at times.

Didn't realise the original score was on the red button. I'll have to watch it properly again sometime. Coming from a fresh perspective though (I.e. Nothing to base the film against), I thought it was good. That may change once I see the unaltered version.

Radio 1's target demographic is usually about the age of 18 and under so 'the kids' will get it. Maybe us 'old'uns' not so?!

Haven't seen the original and wish I was young enough to be a true R1 listener, but thought it was OK. A tiny bit GTA I guess, but not a fail IMHO.

Interesting idea of though - wonder what other films would benefit or at least be fair game?

An odd choice of film to re-score really. I always thought of it as a mediocre film with an excellent soundtrack. So they just turned it back into an average film with an avergae score...

Didn't really see the point of it tbh, but fair enough for trying.
