I think that was the problem with the film for me. I turned it off after half an hour.

I'll give it another go tonight.

No way was Gosling miscast.

He's good at moody SOBs: The Believer, Full Nelson, Ides of March
I don't know what it is but he just didn't work in that film, and I'm certainly not alone in my opinion.

Maybe it's that I don;t feel he's gritty enough for such a role, and reminds me of this

(I know that's not him though)

If like me you'd only watched the film once, and then re-watched this, if I'm honest I couldn't tell the difference.

So to the average joe like myself, they've got it right I think.

Though that it was mostly a good rescore, however the original film's opening track had it nailed the first time and the rescored version was a bit lame and seemed too light.

Thanks for that. I've been listening to the Chromatics mix on YT since clicking. Awesome.

I thought it worked well. A bit hit and miss in places - not sure about the opening credits or elevator scene near the end.

As with other films with OSTs taken to heart it will never match the original.

Having never seen the original, I recorded and watched the Zane Lowe re-score the other night.

I quite liked the film. Sparse content, very 80s feeling, stylish, somehow uplifting at times, with almost cartoon-esque gory violence.

The music was good, but seemed a bit loud at times.

Interested in what the original version sounded like, I fired-up Spotify and...

...er, it sounds virtually the same as what I remember of watching it last night...

It strikes me as a change for change's sake rather than a radical departure.

We watched it tonight.

I thought it was alright. Iffy in places, not really fitting (Nino's last scene) or too loud.

My mrs thought it was terrible and that the original was much better.

To above : You need to see the film with the original sound track really. It just fits the film perfectly. It made the film for me. That and Gosling. I don't know if it is mentioned already in this thread, but apparently Gosling restored the '73 Chevelle himself.

I can believe that the original sound might have fitted better, but I doubt that it would make *that* much difference to the experience of watching it, given that the style of
Music seems the same/very similar.

As I said, I thought the film was good.

Watched this last night. I wasn't a big fan of the film when it first came out. I think the new soundtrack definitely improves it but I still wasn't amazed by the film itself! Interesting idea anyway, wonder if they'll be doing the same to any other films.

Admittedly he does come across as autistic
