Saw this last night and thought it was fantastic, superb acting and because the violence took such a long time coming and was accentuated by how loud and visceral it was, it had much more of an impact than any other film I can think of.

I very rarely buy a film these days after having seen it, but I'll be pre-ordering the blu-ray of this. As mentioned, the soundtrack was superb too.

Yeah, I caught some movement by the bathroom window just before.

Yeah I'm talking about the first gunshot which
hit Standard at the pawn shop.
The bathroom scene was after.

My wife jumped out of her skin at the first gunshot and the violence is pretty brutal!

oh ok, I expected something to happen. I wasn't surprised. I watched the trailer after seeing the film. If you'd watched the trailer before seeing the film it wouldn't have come as a surprise.

I just watched the trailer, which I liked, then read some of the comments. One said: "This is one of those really bad trailers that show all key events in this movie! Thank God i watched this movie before the trailer!" That comment had been liked 10 times.

bks.

Hmm, and to think she rates Shaun of the dead as the scariest film she's ever watched....

I'd say it was at least as graphic as Kill Bill, if not more so in a couple of places.

I found the violence more shocking in Drive because everyone's so calm about everything. I know I'd heard it was violent but by the time it actually got violent, I wasn't expecting it. Just didn't expect it from such a mild-mannered & quiet character.

Agreed, plus he looked genuinely distressed each time he carried it out, at one point you see him sweating and shaking in shock, so it was much more 'real'.

Next time (if ever) I go on a date I am going to stick a toothpick in my mouth and hardly say anything at all.

Until you try and flip it over all cool like, and get it wedged in-between your bottom teeth and palate.

You've obviously met me. It's like the only time I wore dark glasses inside a building. Asked the receptionist where the office was and then turned and promptly fell down a set of stairs I couldn't bastid see.
