What, like D'Angelo's first murder?
Or why the old desk bound cop who makes doll's house furniture was on the shelf for over a decade?
Nah, those aren't so important. And couldn't be told without using flashbacks, which are also (I believe) completely absent from the whole series (excluding some little things done for the Web which may well be on YouTube by now)What, like D'Angelo's first murder?

The Bunk,Stringer Bell and Omar are some of the best characters to be on tv ever, most of them were great, in fact the only one I really didn't like was Marlo.
Never warmed to Marlo, wasn't that fond of Bell either. My favourites would be M'Nulty, Bubbles and Lester Freamon. Thom987 said:

I loved Stringer, he was such an ice cold M------F-----. And he's in my favourite scene in the whole series. The best bit is that this isn't a spoiler if you've not seen it, but if you've seen it, you'll know what I mean.

Omar was a great character, but without giving anything away for the op, that should never have happened. Anyone who survived on his whits like that wouldnt have been got like that. That scene was Borther Mouzone is up ther with the best.
The fact he was got like that was sort of the point. It has definitely been said now
I think Omar is probably one of my favourite characters and I'm glad he is more sparingly used than others - it adds to his characters mysterious edge.
Rawls, McNulty and Bunk are great, too. As is the massively fat desk sergeant whose name escapes me after four cans of heineken!

Landsman. Always looking at porn. I think Omar is probably one of my favourite characters and I'm glad he is more sparingly used than others - it adds to his characters mysterious edge.

There is a great episode in season 1 (episode 8 i think) where things really get pumping and I thought the series would go out with a bang - but it didnt take too long for it to go back to snails pace!

I hope it's not a spoiler to out her as a girl? No? I thought she was a bloke until my second watch through!
"This young lady has, from her earliest moments, had one of the hardest lives imaginable, Her America is different from my own. I am ill-equipped to be her judge."
"Whatever good fortune that came from her role in The Wire seems, in retrospect, limited to that project.
"She worked hard as an actor and was entirely professional, but the entertainment industry as a whole does not offer a great many roles for those who can portray people from the other America."
Powerful stuff.
Surprised that no-one on here has mentioned the great music as well. As soon as I finished all five seasons I bought the soundtrack. Some great songs on there including all of the versions of the opening track.

In the episode directly after this one while everyone is hanging out in the hospital, I realised that this show is COMPLETELY different.spoiler

McNulty is looking like he is about to take a scalpel to his wrists right there because he is blaming himself.
Then Rawls comes up to talk to him and persuade him it isn't his fault.
This is Rawls; a character who up until this point we ABSOLUTELY LOATHE.
Suddenly in one scene I had to reassess my opinion of Rawls as a boss and a person.
No other show on TV would flip a character like that.
Just thinking about that scene puts shivers down my spine.
