Channel 5 have picked up the UK rights to this.

Will be interesting to see how the show is updated.

I have a soft spot for this show as it was must-see viewing in my childhood along with Dynasty.

I too had a soft spot for Dallas. However, I think that it is now very much 'of its time', and would not work so well today.

Agree it was of its time - this is particularly apparent if you ever catch one of the old episodes now.

However, this remake has the key cast members from the original show in it so I'm hopeful they can make a half decent show.

I'm keeping my expectations low until it airs.

Not good news: Larry Hagman diagnosed with cancer.

First and foremost, I genuinely hope Hagman recovers as I think he is a tv legend.

However, I wonder if the scriptwriters will weave his illness into the plotline of the show.

I'm up to Ep5 of this and love it biggrin

As a Dallas (and Dynasty) watcher as a kid, this lives up to all my expectations smile

That said, the first episode was a bit wishy washy, but that is only to be expected.

We liked it too! Especially when ol' JR sprang back to life!

One of the kids came down while it was on and when they watched Sue Ellen, they said "Is that Michael Jackson's sister?" hehe

(Bit worried that they're gonna turn it into a Republic V Democrat platform though, with Bobby's son being on the side of saintly Obama, with all this renewbles crap, and JR's son being the 'evil right winger', wanting to find nasty oil -one of the rasons I stopped watching the last two series' of Boston Legal was because it just became a 'vote Obama' vehicle..)

We thought we'd give it a go as where both fans in our younger years.
Lucy looks rough and Ray looks like he's spent the last 30 years eating cake.

But I can honestly say it was better than I expected. Quite a lot was packed into the first show, and a few twists already.

Hope it stays that way.

I thought Patrick Duffy looked a little leathery. I reckon the Man from Atlantis might have stayed in the bath too long hehe

Enjoyed it a lot.

There's no mistaking that theme tune.
