Nostalgia - as in yearning for the past, often in idealized form...

Dazed and Confused and a close second place to American Graffiti. Both remind me of the absolutely amazing time just after high school in the mid 70's. The time in America was just so free, so much expectation, so much fun to be had and everyone felt it. There was just something in the air. More wild than the 60's, much more anticipation of what could be achieved and what would become of everyone, but in the meantime let's enjoy the summer and have a fking amazing time. Those films nailed that.

...course being born in the north Midlands in the mid 70's means I imagine those films nailed the feeling in America at that time...

Depends on how old one is.

In fact, ALL my favourite films would possible be classified as "nostalgia" films.

"Some Like it Hot" would score highly.
