Maybe I've seen one too many zombie films because this walking dead does nothing for me, just seems like falling skies but with zombies.

Don't spoil anything for me !! smile I wasn't able to watch it but my mother recorded it and I'm going to get to see it later tomorrow. I've waited an entire year for this... Its sad though isn't it, that the highlight of my week entails a show about zombies and a pack of survivors lol

I really enjoyed the first season, especially the 1st episode; I loved the scenes when he wakes up and walks around the hospital hallways and onto discovering the city in ruins with no knowledge of how it may have happened.

I'm not a big fan of basic cable sitcoms mainly because of the annoyance of commercials, and the cast is usually comprised of poor actors whom I can never seem to relate to or have emotions towards them. Also, any other sitcom involving the use of heavy costume and makeup design/creature creations are usually poorly done. So, couple those two scenarios together I.e. Poor acting and an unrelatable cast with fake costume designs and its a recipe for disinterest no matter to me how good the storyline and/or premise is.

But IMO this doesn't seem to be the case with the walking dead series. I think they did a fantastic job with the realism of the zombies and overall set props. And this is just AMC, basic cable, imagine if HBO picked it up how much more grotesque and life like it would be!?!

i dont know, it could be a comedy - theyve got all these army vehicles kicking around with guns and stuff in em, abandoned reliable trucks yet they persist in using a st camper van prone to breakdown, whilst their arsenal consists of a sniper rifle, shotgun, some handguns, a crossbow and some knives.

I can understand the reason for not wanting to make noise but comeone, armoured up (bullet proff glassed) humvee's just sitting there, them driving around in a really quiet V8 jeep

Watched it last night, don't know much about the source material but it seems to me that these are the dumbest fks of survivors on the planet.

Using binoculars and not seeing a "herd" of Z's 25-30m away ???? And they didn't drive through this "herd" which were following the highway previously?

How many decent 4x4's with all sorts of kit were there on that highway? Instead of taking a couple and ditching the unreliable motorhome they nudge them out of the way?? Bloody hell even the other cop started sorting another car out, quite why he chose a Hyundai I will never know when there were plenty of other more reliable 4x4's lying around, including a couple of jeeps.

They are moaning about fuel when they have shown they can siphon tanks to get more if needs be, they are moaning about not having weapons, when at the CDC there was practically every infantry weapon known to man sat on the ground. Takes a 10 year old kid to find a decent anti-Zombie arsenal, you would think they had common sense to have all this sorted before their road trip etc..

Not a spoiler.

I dont think guns are the answer though. Like that women with the pistol. Maybe kill a few zombies with one mag then what? You suddenly have more on you and no weapon? Best to do it silently.

They need to ditch that bloody RV though.

Looking forward to the rest.

A couple of tanks, can just roll over the zombies....... Then a .50 cal gun on the top could make mincemeat of them.

But yes, I had the same thoughts, WTF are they doing in those s***y vehicles? I mean, you also would think they would spend some time putting armour plating on the campervans if they are going to use them etc as well.. And weaponry galore.

I love this show but I do get frustrated by the points that lots of other posters have already made re the weaponry and vehicles. They really are the stupidest bunch of survivors I've seen. I think a PH survivor posse would be 10 times better organised and we'd probably all be driving some very cool cars to boot.

Hmm, I have a feeling that a PH team would run out of petrol before 12 and have a herd of herd of zombies after them with their 50. cals.biggrin

I did use the term 'sitcom' to describe TWD. That isn't the correct term though is it? So what do we call it? A show?

Sitcom = Situation Comedy = Faulty Towers

Yep, just a show or TV series I think.

Not watched the first Ep yet, might get round to it today.

While it's an entertaining watch, the plot holes/stupidities do seem to rack up though.
So much it's sometimes annoying.

Hey there's a zombie in this RV, what shall I do:
  1. stay quiet 'till he goes away
  2. try to assemble a gun, something I've never done before, and when I'm finished to use it will attract a stload of other zombies that have just passed me
Hey, a zombie herd just passed me, what shall I do:
  1. stay under the car until the grown ups tell me the coast is clear
  2. have a peek from underneath the car
He told me to stay here, till he gets back, what shall I do:
  1. stay here till he gets back
  2. run away from here the moment he's not looking anymore

that, added to the fact that there are hundreds of half-decent cars standing around and their persistence to try and fix (and fail) that RV, is just mind boggling.

In fact, this show has convinced me we actually need a zombie appocalypse in real life, with the "survival of the fittest" concept down the drain, this could help to cleanse us of all the fking daft people around.

I didn't enjoy the first episode much at all. I'm hoping they sort their st out by the next episode as series 1 was amazing, imo.

Here come the complaints, some of which echo'd above.

1) Zombies can smell people, unless they're under cars.

2) Binoculars can see zombies, but only if they're 30 feet away.

3) A gashing wrist artery (Vertical incision, no less) can be fixed with a towel and some tape.

4) Church horns sound, despite no electricity.

5) Zombies so religious that they still pray.

6) That kid surviving a gun shot to the chest like he obviously will.

7) Stupid child doing nothing like she was told. 'Stay under car' doesn't stay under car. 'Stay here and wait.' doesn't stay there and wait.

8) Stupid speech at the beginning into the walky talky. If he picked up half way through that speech he'd have got no information on what to do.

9) The dead in the cars. They weren't walkers for some unknown reason.

10) We need that deer for food, sure you can try and stroke it.

11) They should have a biblical arsenal of guns and ammo by now.

Honestly, the most pleasing thing that could happen to the show is that the kid got headshotted and they did find the girl in that zombies stomach.

Kids in peril is such a cliche in everything ever filmed. It's boring. On top of that if you had kids and there was a zombie apocalypse in full swing would your instructions be 'Stay in my sight' without any kind of enforcement, or would they be 'Stay in the RV. Don't leave until you're 18.'...

maybe but then how many miles could you get to a tank compared to the mpg/miles per tank of that RV, the V8 jeep and a the throbbing sound of a Harley chopper.

Havent they seen the other zombie films, in which bus's crammed full of gear are utilised? biggrin

25 gallon fuel tank @ 8mpg is 200 mile range.

They found a bunch of 5 gallon water bottles. 10 (aka, 15 cars syphoned. Max) of those filled up and you've now extended your range to 600 miles.

600 miles of invincibility.

Should get you to the next city where you can syphon some more fuel.
