The finish around some of the window openings looked rather rough on the outside, but I guess no-one is ever going to see it.

The lift pit looked pretty much complete with the mechanical parts and electrics already installed with 6" of water in the bottom. Not clear whether that had penetrated the walls or flowed in from the top. There was a lift contractor listed in the credits, so it must have worked out alright in the end. But if that had to be re-excavated and a new waterproof concrete pit constructed it would have been major. Don't forget George is an architect so not really interested in engineering.

I though that a clean solution would have been to instal a climber lift that runs on tracks up the outside of the building. The overhang might be challenging but the tracks could be stood off the lower part or an opening made to give access into the tank. It would have been visually unobtrusive from a distance and yielded a lot more internal space. Would have upped the cost due to having to break in to each floor level.

I always question the logic of starting work on the lower floors while the top of the building isn't weatherproof.
I thought it was odd to have the lift inside, but maybe they were concerned about it being very cold in the winter or there were some planning issues.

I missed the beginning, was that THE BRDC or just a coincedence or was it never explained?

They said at the start that the planning permission they already had was for the lift to be internal (it appears from news articles from a couple of years ago that the tower was auctioned with planning permission for residential conversion already in place). George was shown telling them to leave it as it was. A lift outside would have meant going back to planning again, which I guess they didn't have patience or money for.

That would have been my choice too - just a shame it involves two-in-one.

Certainly has potential.

I wonder if the workshop and garage is for them to work on the Rolls Royce ?

Get some people in to help finish it which would save time and the family falling out.

He'll have blinds fitted to those skylights above the bed pretty quickly, being woken up at 4am will soon get tired.

Hell yes - we had a similar arrangement and when we renovated we refitted Veluxes with solar blackout blinds.

That just ended so weirdly, where did Jimmy go ? He got erased from the project, his name wasn't even in the book yet he did most of the work ?
Didn't like the end product(s) at all, the whole atrium thing was just awful. Felt like they were inside their local Homebase.

Hope the pipe from the reservoir is capped off properly.
Was a bit of a strange ending with Jimmy missing.
The atrium would be perfect for a snooker table and home gym.

Liked it, I wasn't sure on the courtyard but maybe when it's raining it could be a nice e place to sit and relax.

Jimmy has tweeted about him being AWOL. The project drove him to drink and he ended up in hospital for final filming.

I didn't like the outcome on this one. The older chap had the right idea, getting more contractors in to finish off.

Sorry to learn about Jimmy's problems. I hope he earned some money for his troubles, at least, as he seemed to put a lot in and lost a lot, too.
