Think the chap said it was to be an holiday home.

Was about to say the same, re the planning/whatever department. There must be countless buildings crumbling away because it cannot be brought up to serve a purpose in this modern world , thanks to such departments and the horrendous costs involved.

Or if they do they insist on modern cinder block based building repairs and not sympathetic to the original because they think restoring as per the original might in some way blur the line between original and new, as if photo evidence won't show what's been done and anything added can always be taken away later.

It's my old Scout building on this week. I've seen the finished article and it looks very impressive, albeit a bit too grand for the area.

'Tis certainly a large project to take on, especially as it is grade two listed - love the woodwork.

That's a very ornate and imposingly large pile for a Wesleyan chapel; I thought they were austerity types?

Forget converting it into a house, it would make a perfect garage / workshop for the cars.

It even has an in built engine hoist smile

Not sure I thought much of how they were knocking through that wall.

Maybe a ring saw to cut through & less of the heavy demolition tools just smashing it?

Distinct lack of PPE a lot of the time too. Seems to come and go!

The chap in the digger would have been off the job if that was my site. Might have been the camera but, some of the new brickwork looked a tad off too.

The finished house looked great, but that pushed them to the limit.

It was lovely.

Where do people of that age get the money from do undertake projects like this?

Always amazes me how halfway through most of these projects the budget pretty much runs out and they are hunting round to borrow money, yet they finish up with top spec everywhere.
I can understand not wanting to compromise but I'd find it hard to justify the spend.

True enough, but I suspect the finished project was worth significantly more as a result.

I thought the project was great, but that must have been daunting for such a young couple, with no prior experience, with language issues for the g/f (Spanish native speaker), and a newborn to boot!

I also thought the plot wasn't overlooked at all, but in some of the last visit shots you could see they've a neighbour (large house) right next door. Not that that's a problem, of course.....

Still, great to get the grief out of thw ay now, and enjoy life.

You don't think that kind of thing is just put in for the entertainment value?
(Like it is in every single program of this ilk).
