I just read that a cannonball run remake is on the cards. Guy Ritchie is the favoured director, so far so good. But the film looks like it might be funded by general motors (the same general motors bailed out by the us government) quite how they can afford the hundred or so million pounds this is likely to cost I don't know. Plus a cannonball run without a Lamborghini, or Porsche, or a Subaru with Jackie Chan in the back?
One more thing it may well be set in Europe.

You see that line is where the remake lost me completely. I don't think a cockney gangster Cannonball run would work. Seriously think he is way overrated as a director.

Plus, forget the missing Lambo/Jakie Chan/etc.... you simply couldn't have the film without... Dan dan daaaaaaaaaaaa......

And I cannot think of an actor alive that could play that role anywhere near the manical joyfull nature as played in the original. Although Guy Richie would probably cast Jason Statham and make him a proper hard nut london geezer rolleyes

It might be good. But not with Brad Pitt.
I'm trying to think of a good actor for the Captain Chaos role who could replace Dom Deluise

Fat American comedy sidekick?... apart from Jack Black, I've got nothing.

So... Who will play the cast for the modern version? Who will play the Sammy Davis, and Dean Martin parts? Who will play Roger Moore? Who will be Foyt?

More like a complete reworking, with only some characters recognisable.
Anyone remember Cannonball Fever....

He is no Dom. He tries to hard to be 'wacky'. Dom had a magic, Jack is more like a psycho biggrin

I'm a bit too young to properly appreciate the original Cannonball Run, when I watch it now it seems a bit too cheesy.

I think a re-make could be great. Something more along the lines of when Jackass did the Gumball Rally.

So, as above, who do we suggest plays what role? And much more importantly, what would they drive?

I'm thinking a 458 Spider for the two priests - played by Jeff Bridges and Sam Jackson ("The Chocolate Monk")

A LP640 SV piloted by Mila Kunis and Amber Heard.

I still love the opening moment of either the first or sequel, whwere the girls pull over in the Countach, spray paint a figure '1' in front of the 55 on the speed limit sign and sream off.

And yes, Dom's portrayal of Cap'n Chaos was brilliant

Jeff Bridges, yes perfect choice, we need stalwarts in it, like the old one.

I've got a horrible feeling Ricky Gervais could get the captain chaos role

Hugh Jackman might make a decent JJ.
Jack Black is a decent shout for Victor.
