After years of delays and false stars, George Miller’s ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ is given a new production start date.

January 2012.

Bad weather in Australia means filming is relocated to Namibia.

Here's a sneek peak at two of the cars.

I just hope this film is more like the 1st and 2nd, I hated thunderdome!

Tom Hardy as Max, those cars look good for the film, I'm hoping it's going to be good. I had thought those Ford concepts a few months ago were going to be the film cars, I'm glad they're not.

Like having Dirty Harry 5 starring Matt Damon.

Mel Gibson is Mad Max (and I'm no gibson fan)

Mel's old now though, he won't look so good ass-kicking these days. Tom Hardy seems a good choice though, he at least looks the part.

Will be interesting to see what they do with it, Thunderdome was pretty awful, but if they can keep the car action sequences as good or better than the second's, then we're onto a winner.

To this day, I still want a 'charged car with a magnetic clutch for the supercharger, there would be nothing better than to flick a switch and have the car boost off with a shrill whine!

Can't see this film being a huge success....
We don't need another hero.

laugh

I've always enjoyed post-apocalyptic films, hope they make it really dark, bet they won't be able to match the sound of that charger on the Falcon smile

I think the first film was the best of the bunch (hard to believe it was made in 1979).

First time I ever watched Mad Max was when they dubbed Gibsons voice for a yank bloke. Ruined the film.

I was then convinced to watch it again at my mates house (He was and is obsessed with Gibson) and loved it!

Didn't they make a point of mentioning in mad max2 about gibsons car being the last of the v8 interceptors and then it was destroyed when gimp chops tried to open the booby trapped fuel tanks. So why they have built another one I don't know.

Mel Gibson may be older but without him it'll not seem the same etc. No reason why the film can't cover the fact he's older as time has moved on etc.

Gibson did alright at killing people in Edge of Darkness iirc

In fact, rewatching the trailer for that he doesn't look that past it.

I disagree.I thought his best role since Max was as the tough down-on-his-luck gangster Porter in Payback. He's way too old and fat to play Max again.

I thought that Gibson had "issues"now ... may be the studio's think it would be too much of a gamble?

Yeah Gibson is untouchable at the moment.

I'm surprised they've gone for a sequal with a new actor, with the current love for remakes.

I'm not saying it should be Mel Gibson as Max, but calling it Mad Max 4, then having Max played by a different and much younger guy, is odd.
