In Mad Max 2 he could engage/disengage the supercharger from inside the cabin with a switch on the dash. Surely you'd have it disengaged before turning the engine over to save wear and tear on the starter motor.
The switch was a red one he pulled up to engage the blower & it was fitted to the gearsitck.

In reality it was a steel frame with a roots blower empty shell. It wasn't a real supercharged car :-(

Hence the phrase "in reality". As in "this is what the film pretends, whereas in reality..."

It was like that from the start. In reality, you'd never want to do that anyway, as the car would drive awfully 'off-boost'.
Some Mercs do it (disengage the SC) with magnetic clutches don't they?

Also a common modification amongst the supercharged mk1 mr2 boys. Fit a little rocker switch to keep the electro magnetic clutch disengaged. It also had a little green light on the dash...

One would presume that the system that disengages the s/c also switches to a different fuel map and different air intake route. Not possible with a s/c carb set-up. wink

Although not connected to exhaust gasses, the zoomie pipes where physically bolted to the exhaust system, so they shook and moved with the engine.

True, I think it had an electric motor to spin it up so it looked real.

Indeed it did, there was a box section frame over the carb to hold the blower.

When are they actually going to release this film? At this rate they'll be doing another remake before this one screens.
