The amazing reviews didn't help but for me it's a solid 8/10. Epic action and set pieces, great vehicles. Just a bit lacking in plot and edginess, it was all a bit polished. That said there is no point trying to make an indie feel update of the best one (Mad Max 2 obviously), better to try a different feel, and they have gone big budget wham bam

Mine demanded 2h 27m of her life back when I took her to see Sin City. She said it was "depraved and sick". I thought it was amazing.

I divorced her.

But it wasn't solely over the film. Obviously. smile

I'm taking mine next week, only problem is I need to get her inside, seated and the film rolling before she rumbles me and realises its MadMax and not a chick flick.

Saw it last night, awesome.

Hardy's good in it but this could have been done with gibson still. Would have been a brilliant way back for him.
Eh? He nuked his own bridges from orbit, he doesn't deserve 'a way back'.

At least Rob Downy Jnr has forgiven, Mel. biggrin

He made Edge of Darkness as late as 2010, and that was excellent.
Master of the slow burn, Mel.

It's bad, really, really bad. The start is great, it then descends into one long eventually boring chase scene for an hour and forty minutes. Waterworld was better and that was st.

Jesus....you're eright!
How can anyone advocate watching this film?! It's basically a music video...or a road runner cartoon dragged out for eternity! I didn't think 'high-concept' crap like this got green-lit anymore? What a waste. I watched it in 3D and with the dmox seats, so wow, it was like being in a rollercoaster, if I wasn't constantly rolling around in my seat I would have hated it more, as it was, I was able to endure the fking absence of story and any sense whatsoever.
Talk about a Tony Blair film, all style over substance.

not a bad film but disappointing considering the huge build up.

tom hardy being tom hardy (does he think he's marlon brando?)
overly long chases
weak plot/back story
overly egging the "crazy" aspect of the film, overloaded with too many weird details
cheesy ending

tom hardy has signed up for another 3 movies which should be interesting if they listen to fans.

OT:

The trailer for terminator genisys looks terrible, a mis-match muddle of all the previous films with all new CGI.

I wondered about Hardy, did he simply phone it in because he felt it didn't require more?
Overly long car chase...oooh about 2 hours long. biggrin
THe details in the story...I feel this is the correct way to go for a rich backworld, but it has to make sense...I got the feeling that we were shown stuff simply because it was weird.
I loved the Terminator trailer. biggrinboxedin

Just back from seeing it, and I so wanted to shoot you both down in flames.....but you're right.

Granted there is a lot of action, but the majority of the film is effectively one action scene. There is no real story, and Max is not the lead. I started to get bored and wanted it to end.

hehe
Bizarre, I too got bored and yearned for them to all die. It was like a footy match, first running one way, stop for a bit of a breather and a chat, then run the opposite way. biggrin
But as you say, the action scenes. They were extremely well done and almost CGI free!

Have to agree with the general feeling of slight disappointment. It was a spectacle in it's own right and 'looked' fantastic. But there was no 'Max' content, just one 2hr long car chase! I wanted more of the story of Mad Max himself, hopefully this will be in the next instalments...
7.5/10 - good but definitely over-hyped.

Awesome film, utterly insane action and machines, directed by a mental case, great stuff.

Those stating this was poor and disappointing, well... i'm looking forward to their efforts .

Regards epic cinema overload , about as good as it gets.

What sort of comment is that?

I don't know how to plaster, however if I pay someone to do some plastering and it all falls off the walls, I'm quite entitled to call his plastering st.

Utterly jaw dropping and epic. 2 hours of non stop adrenaline turned all the way up to 11. On crack cocaine. With nitrous oxide. And explosives. You need a bit of a lie down in darkened room when you come out!

BUT

It doesn't have the casual brutality of either Mad Max 1 or 2 (personally I don't count Thunderdome as a MM film) - or the grittiness - it is a bit more 'hollywood' - but that is more an observation than a criticism. It is more an "homage" to MM than a prequel/sequel. There is so much going on in the chase scenes that you would need to watch it a few times to spot everything.

All in all though an incredible film - must have cost a fortune to make, with little cgi. Go and see it - you wont be disappointed. 9.5/10
Pretty much my thoughts. Not as good as 2 overall, but the vehicles, the action, are like nothing I've ever seen. Thoroughly enjoyed it. And the usual disturbing gimp suit fashions, of course hehe

I got a bit bored to be honest - the chases were fairly repetitive though impressive.

3/10 - poor film but some good action and props if that is your thing.

Just one big chase throughout. Like an overly long roadrunner movie without the humour. Boring.

No real stand out characters like the autogiro pilot or feral kid in Max 2. No story like Max 1 or 2 whatsoever. Other half preferred it to me but then again she had not seen Max 1 or 2. She has now and found both of them a far better movie than the current offering.

Hoping for better from San Andreas.

Ditto, i wasn't disappointed but i don't think it lived up to the hype. MM2 is the better film.
