I wasn't planning on watching it anytime soon as all the local cinemas are 3D only, but I certainly won't be rushing to find any 2D screenings now some here have panned it!

I am disappoint.

I loved it. Every petrolhead should go and see it smile

Don't think it's a great film as such, but it certainly is amazing hot-rod porn!

I enjoyed the "weird" touches that suggested a much more complex world beyond the film - they seemed to me to be quite well thought out, even when only shown very briefly.

I've never known a woman who would rather watch a film than spend time with her man, what a strange lady she must be, are you expecting to be together much longer?

Saw it last night, went wanting 2 hours of escapism without much thinking to do as I'm a bit worn out at the mo (4 week old baby at home), and got just that. Loved the style and all the vehicles were superbly done. All the weird stuff like the midgets, the breast milk farm, the demented guitarist strapped to the front of the huge "rock truck", scars in the shape of V8 engines...fantastic biggrin

Not really about Max though... should have been called Furioso, Charlize Theron is the real lead.

Those stating this was poor and disappointing, well... i'm looking forward to their efforts.
What sort of comment is that?

I don't know how to plaster, however if I pay someone to do some plastering and it all falls off the walls, I'm quite entitled to call his plastering st.
Agreed but it's not st is it....not even close to falling off the walls.

That's the problem with comparing a subjective opinion with an objective fact. Doesn't work.

~sigh~

I didn't call the film st, you are applying my analogy to my opinion.

The reason I gave that as an example is to highlight that you don't need to be an expert in a certain field to be able to ascertain the quality of the product.

3/10 - poor film but some good action and props if that is your thing.

Just one big chase throughout. Like an overly long roadrunner movie without the humour. Boring.

No real stand out characters like the autogiro pilot or feral kid in Max 2. No story like Max 1 or 2 whatsoever. Other half preferred it to me but then again she had not seen Max 1 or 2. She has now and found both of them a far better movie than the current offering.

Hoping for better from San Andreas.
Plus no cattle dog. I'm out.

I'll wait till its on sky. 20 years ago I'd have probably enjoyed it. Going by various reviews here included it sounds like a lot of people were blown away by the stunts and gave it good reviews for style but didn't notice not much else was going on.

I booked 3d by accident, my first 3d film. That was odd but bearable.

For me it lacked the crazy nature of the original two. The mad stuff that went on wasn't nearly as shocking or thought provoking.

It was essentially a remake and not a very good one. Tom Hardy is a great actor with a kind of Marlon Brando brooding intensity but nothing seems original any more, people seem to mould themselves or products to what they think people want rather than the outright honesty of the originals.

Slow they spend more to make more so they have to be mindful of wider audiences and that 'car chase' audience.

5/10 from me.

I was hoping it was going to be more like Apocalypto which is an awesome film and funnily enough directed by Mel Gibson.

Those who haven't seen it and want the edge of your seat film with lots of madness watch it immediately.

I saw it on Monday, loved it but it's a solid 8 out of 10 for me rather than an amazing 10/10.

The visuals are amazing but some of the casting is pretty suspect. Tom Hardy is a weak point, I was quite hoping he'd fall off under the wheels of the truck at various points. Some little bit of magic seems to be missing from this film.

Can't argue with the achievement though, the stunts and the visuals are top notch.

I think a lot of you are remembering the originals with rose-tinted specs. The first in particular almost rivals the opening scenes of Commando for cheesiness.

I went to see this in 3D IMAX and its far and above the greatest visual cinematic experience Ive had. Almost every scene is visually perfect, the sound is brilliant and the cars are incredible. That said, as a big Tom Hardy fan I also thought he was pretty weak in this. As a genuinely talented actor he seems to have put in a self-parody performance, a bit like Vin Diesel in the later F&F films where you struggle to define words among the grunts.

Not the best film Ive ever seen and I dare say I probably wont buy it on DVD when it comes out. But I probably will go and see it a couple of more times before its run at the cinema ends.

Agree with the consensus here- Tom Hardy wasn't nearly as desperate as he should have been, he went through the movie looking bored. Am I the only one who thougbt that at the end, when he donates his blood that he sounded like he was going to start talking like Bane?

I also agree that the world seemed more like a wierd scifi world like Fifth Element than a genuine stab at post apocalyptic living, and there was almost no violence of the sort that was pretty routine in MM 1&2. The robotic "and now I will be haunted by my past" thing jarred too. For some reason it reminded me of a Jason Stratham movie.

Having said all that, for a sanitised R15 movie (seriously, when will hollywood go back to the 80's and make its gratuitous violence gratuitous again? Back then you would have *seen* peoples faces ripped off, not had it implied) I still sat through the lot and think it's a thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours, I just don't see it as a real Mad Max movie.

I saw it a few days ago and I thought it was a 8:5/10.

For me Tom Hardy was playing it cool as if Max was desantitised to the horrors he was experiencing. I guess he was desperate at the beginning because of what was happening to him.

I also wanted to know more about the world they were living in but we had that in MM3. Look how well that went.

The stunts, music and special effects were amazing. I recommend people to watch it at the cinema as it won't be as good at home.

I watch the original about once a year, it's still a good film when you're in the right mood.

Good film for the action, but having not watched any of the previous films I didn't really know what was going on other than they're running away. And I could have done a better job in acting than Tom Hardy in this film.

Wish I'd seen it in the IMAX though, I imagine it would have been visually spectacular.

7/10, Mrs thought it was a waste of time.

Went with my 2 daughters, 29 and 16, both said it was the best film they had ever seen, in fact my 16 year old is back at the cinema watching it again right now, so not just a blokes movie! but maybe they have some of their Dads petrol head blood.
I was totally absorbed from beginning to end, sure there were faults and the story line was not deep, but WTF, its Mad Max.
Of course there were things about the other MM films I prefer, 3 being my favorite for individual characters and classic one off lines, but this was special in its own way, bam, action right from the start and all the way through.
See it at the cinema though, in 3D

Saw it tonight at a packed BFI IMAX; what a fun roller coaster of a film. It had enough hints in there that harked back to the original films, although it does feel like Max isn't the film lead. Still, if death by flamethrower guitar isn't cinematic art, I don't know what is.
