I thought he said he pays £3.5k/term?

EDIT: Can't help noticing that the couple without kids are happiest.

So the Scottish fella takes home 40k. Surely that is a bit high for the "average" family?

No, it's nett.

Interesting program. I'm amazed how some of them can make 40k stretch so far.

Wasn't the woman with the RS Megane being discussed somewhere on here a week or so ago?

It is about average household income, and he lives alone/has no kids etc.

Expectations, and expectation mangagement. You see it at Le Mans every year. A great leveler between those stessed trying to keep the 11 reg. toy on the go and the relaxed, with a nicely fettled cossie or even a Triumph.

Well this is on in the background and I have just heard about the Met Sargeant and his wife who works as something else, I forget what - apparently they have a joint income of 40k...

That's not possible unless she earns zero or minus £12k depending on how recently he was promoted.

That is of course unless they are talking of yearly "disposable" income. It's not clear though and sounded misleading. If they are quoting gross salaries, then it would seem their figures are out, which has removed some of the accuracy of watching it for me.

How much does a Sergeant get paid? This program is about net income.

I dont know what she earns (or what a Met Sgt. earns), but they're discussing nett household income, not gross.

Admittedly no kids but when I was earning around £37K net I was also saving £1.5K per month, and that was owning two cars and living in a rented £600K house. Most people just piss their money away. Come to think of it, I pissed some of mine away too so theoretically I could have saved a lot more.

That would explain although they don't make that clear.

Top rate Sargeant in London tops out around £50k last time I looked including London Weighting allowance, excluding overtime and travel concessions.

I saw another kid in the garden with the police sargent, surely that kid wasn't disabled or perhaps just a friend of the family.

He was sent to private school himself so it's probably fair to say his parents helped or at least offered a contribution.

She's probably just a housewife because otherwise they'd be ineligible for the reduced fees.
