I didn't watch The Wire when it was first broadcast and have been catching up with the repeats on FX. The first series was good, the second a bit slow but the third is fking excellent. I thought the policitcal angle would be boring but it is some of the best bits, even Tommy Carcetti, who to begin with I thought was a tt, turns about to be a brilliant character. I've heard that series 4 is even better. Almost tempted to give up on FX and go and buy the DVDs, one episode a week is painfull when you get in to it.

I know there was thread on here a while back that someone started saying they thought The Wire was boring, perhpas they should have waited till they got to S3!

I look forward to Wedensdays when it is on, haven't actually "looked forward" to seeing a TV program for years.

I remember a reading a review in The Times a couple of years ago when the BBC showed all 5 series back to back, which said: "There are two types of people in the world. Those that think The Wire is the best Tv series ever made, and those that haven't seen it yet!"

I'm very much in the former group!

It gets better and better in series three. It has my favourite scene of the whole series towards the end.

I thought second series was a bit dull when I first watched it. 2nd and third time around I really got into it.

The wire boxset is currently about £40 on Amazon, well worth it.

If you want to watch them all online now, as opposed to waiting until next week, goto

http://watchseries.eu

There's also every conceivable TV program on there....

The quality is good enough to hook your PC up to your TV if you don't like watching it on the small screen.

Be warned though as I started watching The Wire series 1 and was hooked to watch them all in about a week! Also ensure you've got a large enough BB allowance to watch them all!

Enjoy!

Sesaon 2 had the best ending with "The Greek" an empty hotel room with some rasary beads and a half drunk bottle of ouzo....

I'm not even Greek

2 is probably my favourite series as well.. I really liked the whole "death of the working class" undertone..

I bought the box set. The end of season 3 was excellent but series 4 is amazing. In all the other series McNulty was one of the best characters but he has barely been in S4 and when he is in it he acts like has had his knackers done. But all the other characters have filled the "void". The politians are excellent, especially Clay Davis. "Major Crimes? Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit"

Best £40 I've ever spent.
