Hidalgo.

It's taken me since yesterday to remember that. I had to stop thinking about it for my brain to go into deep retrieval mode smile

How about Two Brothers?

I watched it at Christmas, with kids, a few years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. Will always be a Christmas film for me.

And it's about tigers. With Guy Pearce. What more could you want?

That's Braveheart dear chap. Apart from a few horses in the battle scenes I don't recall any animal storylines.

Thanks for all the suggestions. biggrin

DVDs ordered this afternoon. The final list as follows.

1) Racing Stripes
2) Homeward Bound (1993)
3) Turner & Hooch
4) Cats & Dogs (2001)
5) Hachi : A Dog's Tale

Total on Amazon was some £25. Great value and a great present for a great person.

Thanks again.

Cheers,

Eric smile

Funilly enough, that video was all over PH when it was first shown - and the main TV news.

I'm happy to have it pulled if it is upsetting to people - but I've seen far worse stuff retained on PH without people getting upset.

Proper schmaltzy flannel IMO, but fill your boots.

On a more serious note, do "uplifting" animal films work because they anthropomorphise the behaviour of animals?

Discuss.

I think it was rather poor in the context of the thread and a poor attempt at black humour - and was right to be flagged up - imho.

This most definitely over the awful remake!!
And I would put alongside it;
Babe
Digby
Watership Down
The Secret of N.I.M.H

edit. Dunno what Eric posted but I find this one of the most uplifting vids, a dog saves the life of his friend.

I think it is another example of animals acting in a manner than most human animals dismiss as 'anthropomorphising'.
