ok i'm not going to look but I thought ep 11 was a bit muddled but it was a great reveal in the final shot...

very interesting and clearly what Lockhart was referring to in his telecon with Carrie.

I thought it lost momentum tbh - really not sure why they introduce a completely new charachter so late in the series and the father things as well - bit muddled. it was a clear pull on Carrie to get home sooner including teh baby scene but it took you out of the plot of the previous few eps completely...

the final EP better be a snorter otherwise file under must try harder....I was hal;f expecting dolph to pop up at any time as it had a kinda cheap feeling to it
I hadn't actually connected the Lockhart call to the end twist until the wife watched it and I picked up during that call that there were games being played....

Not long to go now - time seems to fly passed over Chrimbo smile

50 minutes into the last episode and it feels more like the first episode of a new season!

Thats pretty much what it is.

Jump forward a few months, forget whatever happened and leave plenty of hooks to get people intetested for the next season.

Yeah, disappointing end to what had been a great season. Shame.

Maybe they got a stand in producer or maybe it was done by a committee , poor episode IMHO.

Not surprised tbh. Typical US TV really, why have a good series when you can milk another one out of it.
That's why I preferred The Honourable a Woman this year Brit TV at its best and personally think it knocked Homeland into a cocked hat for this years best spy/espionage series.....

Did they forget they had to film 12 episodes instead of 11 and slap that crap together at the weekend?

I hope Clare Danes learns some new facial expressions before the next series.

Suppose if we were hoping for "Quin in a vest" then probably a major letdown.

However as a precursor for the next series then not not too bad though.

Not the huge calamity I was expecting.

I just read it was scripted by exec producer Meredith Stiehm. ste.

The US critics wrote this: (they were too kind)

Critical response[edit]
The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported a 100% approval rating from critics based on 12 reviews. The website's consensus reads, "Subverting expectations, "Long Time Coming" makes for a smart, sharp, and satisfyingly subdued finale for an excellent season of Homeland."[1]

Cory Barker of TV.com said the finale "offered a really strong mix of somber reflection and intrigue for the future", adding that Meredith Stiehm's script was "particularly well-constructed".[2]

Joshua Alston of The A.V. Club gave a "B-" grade, saying that the episode had problems with its pacing, while also observing there was "a genuine thoughtfulness lent to this episode".[3]

IGN's Scott Collura rated the episode a 9.0 out of 10, and wrote "Season 4 ended on a quiet, reflective cliffhanger, a nice change of pace for the series".[4]

I think the clever thing about the last episode was that I was on the edge of my seat most of the time and almost breathed a sigh of relief that nothing happened hehe

Still one of the, if not the best on TV but I was disappointed big time.
Felt more like end of a season 1 than 4.

I really enjoyed the final episode.

I like the way that actions have consequences. In far too many films/TV shows actions have no consequences on future events – everything seems to happen in isolation. Life's not like that.
Carrie's father's death had consequences in grief, reconciliation and emotional impact. Her failure to protect the US personnel in the embassy have made her more unsure, less confident, of her judgement.
Quinn's actions have tipped Carrie off kilter again, Lockhart was contrite, and Dar Adal's shenanigan's have got him a leader of the CIA he can manipulate to his advantage (though to what end is unknown)

If you want gun fights and exploding buildings that people just walk away from with a witty quip and a stained vest, then this isn't the show you are looking for.

I agree. It's what makes the show one of the best on the box at the moment for me. Characters develop; Lockhart, Quinn et al. It's not black and white and ideas are merged, smudged and discussed.

Just watched the final episode.
Series started poorly got really good and finished poorly.
The first episode next year needs to be brilliant or I'm not going to bother again.
