There was no need for all that bloody jazz at the end. Yes, I know, symbolic of her chaotic mental health etc etc.....

How anyone enjoys that cat strangling bks is beyond me. I swear people only pretend to like it to look intellectual and cool. The mere fact it's used as a metaphor for bipolar disorder tells you all you need to know about the rubbish.

Don't @ me, YMMV etc.

Totally agree, I muted it and waited to see if anyone spoke then rewound it a bit. Absolutely hate that crap, just like a bunch of kids randomly making noise with instruments.

The bit where she went to the loo, did she swop purses with the other woman?

Yes
I'm guessing that's how she found out about back door entry. In a Russian ballet loo.

Just needed to go somewhere to make the drop - I'm sure we believed her to be a jazz fan, or am I just guessing that from the opening credits?

I'm pretty sure way back In the day when she tried to overdose on pills and vodka (maybe after the quinn thing) I think she stuck some on then. I think she likes it.

She might. I wasn’t saying whether she did or didn’t or needed a drop off. Just that I absolutely hate jazz, it’s just up it’s own arse crap noise.

Spot on re the Jazz. Mindless selection of disjointed notes that pseuds lap up. Apart from that great episode.

Not too many Jazz fans in here I see... rofl

Got time for Jazz lesson?

I got to about the age of 35, then realised I really liked Jazz. Suddenly amassed loads of it in my playlists. No idea how it happened.

It’s not entirely fair to say you hate Jazz just because you hate the type of Jazz heard in Homeland.

That’s like saying you hate Rock because you heard one style of it, or one band.

As an example, I absolutely hate the Beatles and any 60’s/70’s Rock band that sounds even vaguely similar to them. And I do mean absolutely hate them. But I like loads of other rock music.

There are about 20-30 sub-genres if Jazz, depending on who you speak to, and they are quite different.

The type of Jazz in Homeland is mostly ‘Free jazz’ which as the name suggests, is just freedom to play notes and rhythms that don’t conform to classic structures.

Free jazz is sometimes associated with musicians who have Schizophrenia.

Despite liking Jazz, I don’t like free jazz. It’s too ‘far out’ for me.

So there you go, avoid free jazz, but have yourself a listen to the other types of jazz, you might like it smile

Interesting. I’ll have to read up on it, jazz mags are a good start probably?

Yes, absolutely.

You can usually find jazz magazines containing fascinating articles on playing the skin flute, the pink oboe, and other great instruments.

We’ll probably get shot down by soi disant aficionados, but I’m totally in agreement with you.
I firmly believe that those who smile and nod intelligently to that merde, are actually stone
deaf, or have been lobotomised.

Just finished it.

Watched all the series - in the years they were first shown.
First series great and this last one too - I think a few were weaker at some point but all good.

Now time to watch all of “The affair”

I got up to S2 of "The Affair" last year and then gave up when I realised they were still making the show. Couldn't bear several more series of a show that was so depressing hehe YMMV

Isn't the jazz something that has been embedded into the opening credits since forever? So pretty much a reference to that as much as anything else?
