See my explanation above.

It's called comedic taste and is very personal.

And as I also said, discussions as to why some people find something funny and others don't are almost completely pointless.

I don't 'get' all the fuss about MBB either - I don't find it funny. I won't go as far as saying it's the worst comedy show ever made - because that accolade goes to a show from about 10 years back called 'Mad About Alice' that starred Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston, now that WAS Shiite!

It's just a discussion thread about the things people do, or in this case don't, like about this series. Comedic taste is pretty much like automotive taste and there are whole forums dedicated to cars! smile

Not quite.

Although the aesthetic qualities of cars - and many other technologies such as aircraft or even computers - can be judged on a subjective basis, cars and other technologies also feature technical specs and performance parameters that can be compared and measured - and therefore judged on their objective, inherent, merits.

Humour (and most other human emotions) isn't like that.

Eric's told you to stop talking about it, so do as you're told.

hehe

I am most definitely NOT saying that.

Obviously, my points are too subtle for the masses.

(Probably the same reason I'm not a fan of "Mrs Brown's Boys").

I'm tempted to start a mirror thread, with the only difference being that I'd replace MBB with Open All Hours, or Birds of a Feather, or somesuch drivel and tripe.

It's rare that I agree with Eric, but today I do biggrin

I think MBB is one of the funniest programmes on TV at the moment. I also find the IT crowd funny, along with Father Ted. Although there is an obvious common theme there, it does not apply across the board .... I did not find London Irish funny, nor Count Arthur Strong (Sorry Glinner).

I also don't see the humour in The Office, nor Extras. In my book, I think that Blackadder was the last great british comedy series on TV.

Jimmy carr is dull, Jack Hall is a knob, but Rich Hall is hilarious.

Go figure smile

Is MBB just a rehash of the sitcom Bread?

And I agree with you - especially on "Blackadder" - the nearest thing to modern day comedy Shakespeare.

He was agreeing with me, not you smile

And as he's already said, you can't explain it. What do you find funny?

I said much the same, but it doesn't explain the specific vitriol for some shows.

That's the whole basis of my argument.

There is no point in me explaining to you why something makes me laugh. It just does.

You should have stopped at ' There's no point in me explaining to you...'

I think Stewart Lee is one of the best comedians out there.

We were persuaded to try the Xmas special out again as it's 'hilarious'. I managed 24 minutes or cringing canned laughter and just couldn't put up with it anymore. Xmas day entertainment......seriously. It was pitiful.

It's one I don't think I will ever 'get' and yet love father ted, and used to even see some amusing things in bread all them years ago. But spots on your cock would be funnier than this Shyte tbh.
