Maybe, but if you'd been called a coon// etc etc 20 years ago, likely to have been physically abused then you might not have found it funny either (like the mixed race lady). I don't think you can call that lady the 'professionally outraged' that's an incredibly unfair comment to make. Clearly she was very passionate about what she said, because she'd experienced that level of hatred in her life.968 said:

Out of interest, who did Rashid play rugby for? They said he was a pro but I cannot find any players by that name
His real name is Tommy Bulldoganonymous said:

I think you are being unfair to her if that's what think she implied. I didn't infer that.OK who is going to take the test?

I don't think that's the case, the asian chap with the beard was very nice to him and understanding of his position.
he actually said that was a trait of muslim studies. In principle i believe in Islam, but as i don't believe in god it is quite hard, but Islam has a lot of strengths.

What are they?
Uh oh, I can see the thread tangent about to happen......Halb said:
I studied world religions back in school. What I can say about Islam now is that; they don't eat pork or drink booze. They make interest free loans to other Muslims (I think), women are treated poorly. I can vaguely infer something about helping others, like the rugby player chatted about, but not the actual tenets.
I'm sure it would be an interesting and informative discussion but probably would result in an inevitable amount of bile, vitriol and intolerance on all sides, and would divert from this discussion thread about this program.TBH my quote on page one from the bloke in the pub says more than the actual show itself.
I've encountered racists in my life. And people like the ex copper in the show. They get deeper and harsher with every comment till you react, then when you do, play the innocent and tell you they were just joking. Met plenty in my time
I've been chased through the streets in the late 90's by people using some quite offensive language towards me. I got confronted by a fully grown adult when I was 15. "what you looking at c**n? When did the banana boat get in!" a coffee thrown at me only 3 years ago from a passing van, accompanied by the N word.
It's rife, just more underground these days. Kept to ones self.
We've all received the jokes on our phones. I've heard em, but they only ever get sent to friends phones, never mine as it will probably offend me, so they just don't send them to me. A bit of consideration never goes amiss, and I think the ex copper could have shown a bit, instead of pushing for a reaction, then playing it up like people are throwing it all out of proportion
Ideally, you need to be on the receiving end of it to actually understand it
