Ghost in the Shell. It's an cyberpunk anime that has some pretty deep stuff going on. I watched it one night, was confused all night, tried watching the second film the next day to get some answers to my questions, left that one even more confused.

Also for 'films that mess with your head', Hard Candy. At some points you find yourself sympathising with the guy, then you think "hang on, this guy is a complete ahole, he deserves this"... it's very weird to watch. And painful.

How scary, I posted this to a friend today in response to freaky picture we took of her yesterday. The low slight and slow shutter had elongated her fingers and it's all I could think of.

Oh well done on the mention of Hard Candy, really good film. Not sure it's weird, just brilliant. Bunraku we watched a couple of weeks ago and thought was really good too.

I had also forgotten about Bubba Ho Tep, went and saw it at the cinema when it came out, and why I love heap Tuesday's for making me watch more than just mainstream.

What the hell am I watching.

Because of you lot going on about primer I bought for a couple of quid.

Ok I know what the film is about I have read the wiki page about teh plot and what is happening.

I just can't work that out from the film. its soooo slow moving. Not a very accesable film. Should be right up my street but isnt.

I've not seen it yet, but my desire to see it stems from how weird it's supposed to be....

I wouldn't call it wierd.

Just so boringly slow and full of talking that you can't work out what is actually going on. I think with a good director and a budget of more than $7k the story is interesting enough to make a decent film

sorry but primer isnt one.

I liked Melancholia - it's pretty slow (which I don't mind), its more of a character piece looking at how sometimes dramatically different people cope with sometimes exraordinary events.

After Primer was mentioned on this thread I decided to give it a go...

Thought it was great! smile Clearly didn't have a 'normal' film budget - but the story was great. Not 'easy' to watch, had to keep thinking, had to accept that sometimes you simply couldnt understand the reason for all the events.

Thoroughly enjoyed it smile

Just seen it last night. My wife said it is was depressing, I loved the weirdness and the final scenes are quite awesome (planet collides with earth)
Kirsten Dunst is excellent in it.

Another good one that just came to mind is La Cabina, or The Telephone Box, very odd Sapnish film from the early seventies that really instils a sense of desperation on the viewer.

Quite enjoyed Nightwatch, but haven't seen the follow up.
Nowhere near as good. I enjoyed Nightwatch, Daywatch not so much.
I have to agree with this too. Nightwatch is excellent, Daywatch is pretty stoopid.
Thanks folks. Went to see the trailer
