Aye, didn't mean to come across as being pedantic! It came close to not being released at all though, as the top floor bods at Warner Bros didn't know what to make of it. After several cuts it escaped into the wide world in '70... recently replaced my tired old VHS copy with a new DVD, it still astounds every time I watch it. (BTW, the dvd is much better than the VHS version as it doesn't have the daft dubbed voices on it, and the scene where James Fox gets a beating is longer).

Thought of another - 'Entertaining Mr.Sloane' from '69, which has some good London locations.

Haven't seen that in a long, long time.

One of the reasons I bought a P5B Coupe in the '90s. hehe

Not a film but any episode of the Sweeney will get you a fix of 70s cars and street scenes.

I was a dispatch rider in 1981, I know a decade out, and I remember delivering to the Isle of Dogs. Loads of warehouses and lock ups each with wild dogs on chains. It was a very grim area and look at it now biggrin
Recently saw a scene from the Sweeney shot at Farringdon Station in the 70s, which is how I remember Farringdon Station. All changed now, for the better I guess, but made me smile.

Kudos

Slightly beyond - 1974 - but Juggernaut has a wealth of shots/scenes in and around Victoria, Pimlico, Belgravia.

I recorded the Steptoe & Son film last night in the hope there might be some good 1971 London footage. hehe

Watcehd Please Sir the other week and it was rubbish, nowhere near as good as I'd remembered.

Perhaps a little early, but "Robbery" (1967) is a great film with a fantastic car chase in it.

"Strange Report" was an ITC TV series from 1968. Lots of location shots and a really colourful, vibrant 60's look to it.

My parents insisted on watching that but I actually enjoyed it. Quite a few street scenes and loads of old cars in the St Trinians film that preceded it.

The Black Windmill starring Michael Caine, has from the little I have seen, a London setting.

It is regularly shown on ITV4 but I have yet to watch it in its entirety.

Tis also on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5TtwQ4uzSA

Frenzy. Hitchcock. 1972 (a touch later that you might be thinking). Not many films better portray London in that era. Multiple scenes shot in and around the original Covent Garden, and Oxford Street.

Hitchcock grew up there, and that's why he spent a lot of time crafting the film to accuracy, and for me is almost the definitive capture.
Excellent shout, very atmospheric movie.

Someone mentioned Robbery, one of my favourites as I'm a great train robbery junkie and it was based on that. Opening scene especially good for London.

Another good Stanley Baker heist pic, shot in 1970 - Perfect Friday.
