Apologies if been mentioned in an old thread somewhere.

I'm in the process of upgrading some of my standard def DVD's to Blu Ray to enjoy on my new 1080p projector.

I've got some major action/sci-fi blockbusters to start, but are they any good recomendations of films that come to really life in full HD with DTS sound ?

Currently my collections has (to name a few):

Matrix trilogy
Die Hard Quardology
Tranformers 1 & 2
Blood Diamond
Saving Private Ryan
Body Of Lies
X-Men
Watchmen
Tron
Behind Enemy Lines
Top Gun
The Bourne Trilogy
The Bond films

Any recomendations are much appreciated !!! smile

LOL and before anyone says, YES I have focused my projector.... Blu Ray not Blur Ray !!!!

I wasn't all that impressed with the Alien Anthology Blu Rays TBH, didn't think they looked much better than the DVD's on a decent upscaling DVD player, although at £15 for the lot well worth a punt.

My recommendations are :

Black Hawk Down
Avatar
Blade Runner Final Cut
Sunshine
Inception
LOTR - Extended Edition

And not films but really show what Blu ray can do

Planet Earth (BBC)
Blue Planet (BBC)

Agree on Avatar.I didn't think the film was as good as most people did but it looked simply amazing on blu ray.

Predator on blu ray is worth a look, had me crawling around on the floor in front of the tv to see how much detail I could make out close up. Think its been digitally sharpened, lot of reviews online give it stick for the supposedly hamfisted techniques that were used but certainly the best picture quality iv ever seen. Arnies nipples look great in hd.

You've got all the ones I'd recommend but fwiw avoid 'The Game', the 1997 noir-esque thriller with Micheal Douglas. It's one of my favourite ever films but the Bluray transfer is very poor indeed. It looks better on Sky HD!

Agreed, also a very under rated film.

+1 for Apocalypto and District 9

Star trek (latest version)

Traitor (its cheap and should be to your taste if you liked Body of Lies)

Life (must own for anyone with a blu ray player)

Predator hd.
Definitely, there are two versions though, you need the 'hunter' special edition or whatever it's called as there is genuinely a big difference between the two.

Also The Thing transferred very well too if that's your bag

Yep, turns what was an OK film into a really good one. Can't believe some of the key bits they cut out of it.

The Back to the Future trilogy, go to Amazon reviews everybody loves what they have done to the blu rays, it looks like they filmed it yesterday.

There's little prepares you for the quality of the print on this Blu Ray reissue - it's absolutely gobsmacking. I've seen great restorations before ("Goldfinger", "North By Northwest", "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", "The African Queen", "The Italian Job" - see reviews for them all) - but this is exemplary.

Of all the 100+ blu rays I own, this has to be the best. Amazing picture quality, fantastic extras, plus the limited edition posters etc are a nice touch.
I picked the Trilogy up for 12.99, I see its back up to 27.49, but it wont be long till it drops again.
