It was a good program, apart from when he was talking to the orphan kid.David just seemed impassive, and his questions were aimed at getting the kid to cry on tv frown

He is certainly a determined fellow, like Eddie Izzard was. Maybe our Olympic team should consist entirely of comedians.

What's so hard about swimming past your house Craig? Do you have pet alligators or is it miles away from water or something?

We've tried that for years in Football. It doesn't work.

Agree with 98elise about making the kid cry, worst moment in the programme. Thought Brydon was funny though.

His massive head must act like a buoy, couldn't have been all that difficult to swim.

rofl Have you got rid of your arm bands yet?

Could you honestly swim the channel every day for a week without recovery time? I'd say his effort was pretty bloody impressive and I'm a regular swimmer.

Don't like his comedy - find his TV persona massively irritating.

But Jesus christ the guy is a hero. I cannot imagine how punishing that must have been - getting up every day for 8 days to swim 20 miles in a freezing cold river - for charity.

I personally had no issues with the the questions he was asking the kid - that's how they tug at peoples heartstrings to get them to donate - ends justifies the means as far as I see it.

The bloke is a hero for what he has done. Superhuman effort.

biggrin I re-read it and realised it was probably a little over-ranty.

As above, not a fan of Little Britain.

But he did good.

Funniest parts were Jimmy Carr and Rob Brydon coming to see him.

Strangest part was anything with his Wife in. She was proud and nervous but seemed off somehow.

Really? I thought Brydon was being a complete pri!ck. Really not funny at all (is he ever?) and that whole bit of him trying to ask questions whilst David was swimming was plain embarrasing - I think even Brydon himself realised that after he was ignored the first 5 times, but by that point he had dug himself into a hole and had to continue.

did not see it but can't have been that hard he was afterall going downstream, surely he just had to lie back and let the river get on with it...
