Is the F1 channel not free?
If you have Sky Sports OR HD then yes you get it at no extra cost. She's got a regular standard non-HD sky package, with no sports option (as she has no interest in sport, or HD viewing).
However, she has got a HD box. And she gets the F1 channel.
So that might suggest that just having a HD box is good enough to get F1. She has checked her Sky bills and confirms she is not paying for HD or sports, and was not given it as a 'freebie' by them.
Odd!

When it comes to the Murdoch empire, dam right. I am very happy too steal from him. If the time comes when there is no Murdoch involvement then a Sky HD package will be purchased.
I'm sure you would feel the same if he came and took your TV when you were away on holiday?Kinky said:

I have a sky+HD box which I got for free when I joined Sky 15months ago, however I went to SKyf1 today to try it after seeing what Kinky said....and mine works....
I have not paid ANYTHING Extra and yet I have it on my sky!!! This is brilliant news

I'm sure you've seen the reply in the other thread in General Motorsport, but the F1 channel is free to view for one week as a taster, and will be locked down next weekend.I have a sky+HD box which I got for free when I joined Sky 15months ago, however I went to SKyf1 today to try it after seeing what Kinky said....and mine works....

I watched Friday evening and some of saturday evening and really enjoyed what's being done so far. The technical bits and the graphics to explain stuff are very well done.
Not sure about "Fenner's", I think he's just going to wind me up.
But, that's just one small thing, the rest look's great and I can't wait unitl next weekend to see what the race weekend format is like. Do we know if the channel will only be on over the race weekend or will there be other stuff on it at other weekends?

I agree that the showreels for the Sky F1 channel look great. Some very high production values and nice editing.
BUT.
And this is a BIG question mark for me...
How are they actually going to run the programming on live races when it comes to integrating advertising?
How they handle advertising in a live action environment will make or break this channel.
BUT.

They don't interupt football for adverts and they've said they won't interupt the race for adverts, so I think they'll manage to get round it ok.BUT.

I hope so anyway, it would be a shame to let such commercial nonsense spoil what could be a very good channel.
