The Sweetest Thing - got this by accident (was supposed to be Training Day) from the video store, never having heard or read anything about it before. The mrs and I really enjoyed it, it's a chick flick but with a few crude bits hehe only after I'd seen it did I discover the terrible reviews.

Men At Work - Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen as Bin Men, I just love this 80s classic, although I think I'm in the minority.

The Graphic novel is basicaly what you see in the film. Its almost scene for scene. (ok they changed one minor plot point in the book it isnt Dr manatons power source that destroys cities)

The way they made the film match the drawings really is very very clever.

Since when is any Kevin Smith film under-rated?

He pretty much tops the cult-classic lists.

Dogma, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, Clerks ... all well known and loved films.
Not really, they all died on their arse at the box office.

They are cult-classics as in, no-one went to see them.

I don't know if many people have seen the brilliant Clerks 2 (Chasing Amy is garbage IMO ..)

London Boulevard.

Utter tosh......Wasn't expecting much from Colin Farrell but he did amuse me with his heavy east end accent wondering into an irish twang. Ray Winston played his part well even if it was an over cliched London gangster. Ben Chapman was just odd and Kira Knightly was boring. However David Thewlis was the only exception.

Boring plot, overacted wannabe movie with no legs.

Some good movies here...Glad that Lucky Number Slevin is mentioned, that is a good one!

I also really like Running Scared with Paul Walker in his best role imo

I thought Watchmen was better but then again it gets a lot more recognition, maybe deservedly so. 'V for' was IMO abysmal, I had to force myself to sit through it. If it weren't for Hugo Weaving it would have been unwatchable. The representation of the 'English vibe' was so puerile I literally cringed, isn't that right, chummy?
I hated V for Vendetta but really wanted to enjoy it.

I wonder what it would have been like if James Purefoy had stayed onboard.

Re-watched it last night after it had been mentioned on here and really enjoyed it. The whole "English Vibe" wasn't as bad as I remembereg either.

If JP had stayed on-board I don't think i'd have enjoyed it as much TBH, HW's voice worked so well and he was the best thing in the film IMO. I also find JP particularly one-dimensional as an actor

Strictly Ballroom

Brilliant film, the memory of which is sullied by the whole "Strictly come dancing" farago that is broadcast at license payers cost each year.

The final scene of Strictly Ballroom is one of the most uplifitng moments in film history, ever - from "Scott Hastings and partner to leave the floor" right through to "Love is in the air" ... about 8 minutes with next to no dialogue, but telling more of a story than the entire output of Dan Brown, and frankly far more believable too.

Baz Luhrman's finest film, even if Romeo & Juliet was a slightly more successful film (and is a fine film in it's own right).

Shifty 2008 Brit Film about a young coke dealer. Good entertainment and speeds along nicely to a very good conclusion. The main lead puts in a great performance.

Worlds Greatest Dad. Dont much care for Robin Williams, but this is an excellent black comedy on the cult of fame.

Has anyone mentioned Starship Troopers?

It's either utter tosh or proof that someone in the states understands irony & has a very dark sense of humour.

i watched it expecting it to be another brain out and straight forward action hero/super hero with no knowledge about the film/comic book(never even heard of watchmen!)and it was too long and slightly confusing.

watched it a 2nd time round with a quick 5 min read on the backbround/storyline to understand why the goog guys went bad etc and i enjoyed it much more, like an adult version of a superhero film
