Damn, I watched a repeat about the XJS...

They are good programmes, regardless of the shams and little profits, to show you what to look for and expect with these old cars. Mike isn't in it long enough to get on your wick.

It's TV. He's hamming up the "cocky geezer" stereotype.

^This. It's only a TV show, don't take it so seriously. Watched this as it was being broadcast last night, watching it again now on sky+. I too didn't know a Fiat Dino existed, nice-looking body shape.
You watched the show twice within 24 hours though missed none of it first time round???

Italian job with Michael Caine the only film worth watching the remake misses out on the class of the actors the style of the location the cars.
And of course that opening sequence v12 Miura hammering round an alpine pass with sheer drops either side v12 echoing superb.

Enjoyed that as ever, looking forward to next week, that era M5 was the first proper fast car I ever drove.

I'm sure I've heard Clarkson banging on about Morgans having wooden chassis and even Morgan fan Hammond saying about "that little bit of flex in the chassis makes the Morgan more compliant in the bends" in reply - seems its not true - its a reasonably normal, if old fashioned steel seperate chassis with a metal body and some wood parts.

Always wondered what the wood was used for.

Interesting they don't bother mentioning the various upgrades. And not a whole lot of margin either.

All sounds pretty dubious, selling it back to a 'mystery' dealer at the end.

Canny dealer?

Brewer approaches him, dealer knows what Wheeler Dealers is all about, sells, then waits for it to come back on the market at a price that (as we all know) excludes Edd & Paul's labour costs.

Mammoth effort from Edd on this one, though.

That was HARD work for Ed and Paul no question a truely epic effort.

120hours all in ....
Frankly if some individual attempted it themselves over the period of 4-6 months worth of weekends without a break then clearly they would keep the car for good.

Also why not fully undearseal it now? Extra ins policy bs 120hours work

Considering it had an old 2.0 Rover engine, the chassis and suspension cost £1600 and it was about £5k in labour, I did wonder where the original dealer got the £13k figure from. I can't see why anyone would want to pay £20k+ for one of these when they could have a proper V8 TVR for a lot less dosh.

Maybe because they don't like TVR's but do like Morgan's? Bit of a wacky notion I know.

They need to re-evalute their car appreciation if they find spending £20k+ on one an attractive proposition.

Open top two-seater, classic British styling and a V8, maybe. What is the appeal in the 4-banger version at that price though?

Quite enjoyed last night's. smile

Maybe I'm getting older, but Morgans have much more of an appeal than they used to, in fact it was one car I could never, ever see myself in. But now I see the appeal and would quite fancy one if I had the dosh.

I may well grow a beard too. scratchchin
