Well we're a week away from S2 airing so I thought I'd create a thread for discussing it; I've heard that it starts to vary a little from the books as it includes parts of the third book.

I don't know what the delay is between it airing in the US and here in the UK, but last season was a delay of 24 hours or so. To prevent this thread simply being a load of spoiler tags, I'd suggest that if you aren't watching them as they air in the US that you avoid the thread until after the episode airs in the UK (which, hopefully for you will be the same time delay as the last season!).

So, GoT - Season 2; 6 days and counting..!

Ive not read book 1 (so not sure on this bit), but in Season 1 tv, the bit where Cat is 'interrogating' Jaime appears in Book 2, so my question is, does she interrogate him in Book 1 as well or have the over lapped Book 1/2?

Also i guess youd have to overlap books due to the ways its written and viewers will want to see what happens to the characters

I was worried that reading the books would reduce some of the 'shock factor' of the plot unfolding (such as the complete disbelief that Ned was killed; I hadn't read any of the books prior to watching), but I couldn't wait to find out what happened. As mentioned, I think the show story arc may vary a little from the books anyway...

I think there is a half hour review of S1 and a preview of S2 on Sky Atlantic tonight at 10:50pm.

Must fight the urge to change the title from season to series. The season is Spring, the series is 2. smile

Really very annoyed with HBO. I've not got an HBO carrying cable provider, but I do have a Roku (bit like an AppleTV). HBO GO is an ondemand channel on there, and GoT is one of them.

Yet one can't subscribe to it without having the cable subscription.

I'd happily pay $20 a month for HBOGO (it's free to HBO cable subscribers) just for GoT.

As it is, I'm going to have to download it.

(well, I don't HAVE to, I know, but...well..you know).

Why not bite your metaphorical tongue for 24 hours until it airs on Sky Atlantic and everyone can join in? That seems to be the "norm" on PH TV threads where there are different viewing speeds.

I recorded Ep10 of series 1 on Saturday night to recap on where things were left. Looking forward to this tremendously.

I was sufficiently impressed by series 1 to read all of the books, and absolutely loved them. I hope they manage to keep a reasonable level of fidelity to the written material......

A good opening...! Must admit I'd be finding it hard to follow if I hadn't read the books.

Unless I'm mistaken...

This is on again on Sunday & then the series starts?

I can't find anything for ep2 in the listings, last nights wouldn't series record but Sunday's ep1 will....?

I thought it was a decent return, but for some reason I didn't feel as excited about it after last night's episode as I was about every episode in the last season. I'll keep with it and hopefully I'll get properly into it again. I'm hoping it's not because I have now read books 1-4 and knowing what happens has ruined it for me.

I'll be gutted if I've just managed to deprive myself of enjoying what was, for me, the best series on TV!

I've not read the books, and found it pretty easy to follow, that said I did re-watch the 1 season in the week running up to the last nights season opener.
