I didn't like last nights episode as much as the first one, it had its parts (the self telling-off scene had me laughing and the guitar bit had me in stitches) but stuff like the group dance at the end and the swearing - that would never have happened in the original series.
I can't actually get used to the swearing in it, ok - so it's only the occasional "bd" but it's not RD, imo.
Ill have to respectfully disagree regarding the swearing, because 'White Hole' shown just after this episode the other night contains this from Rimmer:I can't actually get used to the swearing in it, ok - so it's only the occasional "bd" but it's not RD, imo.
Kryten: Well the Space Corp directive 195 clearly states that in an emergency power situation a hologramatic crewmember must lay down his life in order that the living crewmembers might survive.
Rimmer: Yes, but Rimmer Directive 271 states just as clearly: No chance you metal bd.
Although in all honesty i've just posted it because I love the space corps directives (although this one seems to be relatively serious)!

Hmm... it wasn't as prominent originally then, being one instance in 8 series.Kryten: Well the Space Corp directive 195 clearly states that in an emergency power situation a hologramatic crewmember must lay down his life in order that the living crewmembers might survive.

Tikka to Ride episode. Outside the Texas book store depository (JFK assasination ep)Lister: Hey, what's going on down there? What're all those people doing gathered around that giant pizza? Kryten: That is *not* a giant pizza, sir. Lister: It's 8 foot across, man - you don't think that's giant? What kind of pizza house have you been going
to? The Fat-bd-o-ria
I' sure there are others too.

Hardly prominent, as I said. What's that - six examples in 50+ shows, three of which have been in the most recent two episodes...adjective

But hey, letting it slip isn't in some people's vocabulary - it is the internet afterall!
Noticed the first ep as I was poking round the sky+ on demand while bored the other night and thought I'd brace for disappointment and give it ten mins.
Quite enjoyable, had a couple of good chuckles... if anything the move to dave, while initially worrying, is what has given us a fairly low budget, fun, cheeky, unapologetic, and doesn't take itself too seriously production that evokes the originals far more than so much of the slick, brash, flash, cgi laden pretty-yet-vapid formulaic blandness that is most 80's/90's remade/revival shows.
Well done dave, whether inadvertent or not.
