I would call the US series milking it thou.
I dont think the rights to a foreign country is milking it.

And yeah, I felt for the annoying man as well.

More than rights, both him and Merchant are Exectuve Producers and as much as I love it it jumped the shark ages ago. He has even appeared on it as David Brent.

I found Derek extremely Cheesy, a cheese fest in overdrive, similar to the Office US can be sometime.s
I know they had creative input in the very early episodes, and then left it alone to mature as a US series.
Never knew DB was in it, ace! I am hoping the sky comedy channel shows them all in order, then I would concentrate on Watching them.

Has he used a stupid wig in Derek? I don't see a comparison between Derek and the sitcom within a sitcom from Extras.

There is a danger that Ricky is not being sincere about exactly who the joke is on, so some are avoiding the possibility of having the joke on them.
I'll risk it and say I enjoyed the show.
From the Limted knowledge I have I'd him (his tweets/interviews) I do not think it's a joke on the viewers.

I agree. I think he is talented in what he does. I don't think his range is broad, but the Extra's thing, yeah he did that very well.
He gets knocked, perhaps rightly sometimes, I am not sure, but he has produced/directed/written/created some most excellent shows.

I'm looking forward to the new series with a sense of trepidation. One series might have been enough. There's a risk that it becomes diluted, formulaic, etc
I think that is a good critique.
Office/Extras both stopped when they were ahead, but Derek has a different feel to it. We shall see.

Brilliant.
Loved the spider bit and the shock. That character is my favourite.

Can't abide Gervais. tt of the highest order.

However, i quite like this. It's very real. (wife manages a care home).
I can watch it without wanting to punch him, which is amazing.
Has the right mix of comedy and emotion.

Can't believe i am typing this about a complete knobber but it is rather good.
Detested the office. Would still happily cross a busy road to punch him.... (other than this).
Why do you hate him so much?

The show is a good example of a care home then?

Can't people just be useless sts without any redeeming qualities. It's closer to real life.
Like the new handyman? Of the young one's bf. There are those characters too. The one's that have redeeming qualities are the ones we like to think we'd be mates with even though they have other issues.

It's depressing and uplifting simultaneously.
I think that is why I like it.
I'm a miserable pragmatist of sod but I love to laugh.
Only When I Laugh, Dad's Army, One Foot in the Grave.
It's like kicking yourself, having a little chuckle at life, then kicking yourself again, because why not.

The bit from the last episode I loved was the woman talking about booze. One cannot judge, life can be st sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta, roll the dice and take the chance.
