Loved the first series.

However the first episode of series 2 was awful. Gervais slipping noticeably in an out of character was a big distraction. The new character was naff - just wholly unpleasant to watch and not believable as a member of the care team whatsoever. Pilkington spending the whole episode upset and wanting to leave - also just plain unpleasant. Derek's Dad - unpleasant. Derek watching the Lizzie DVD and crying - ineffective and cringeworthy unless I've seriously missed a point.

Can't abide Gervais. tt of the highest order.

However, i quite like this. It's very real. (wife manages a care home).
I can watch it without wanting to punch him, which is amazing.
Has the right mix of comedy and emotion.

Can't believe i am typing this about a complete knobber but it is rather good.
Detested the office. Would still happily cross a busy road to punch him.... (other than this).
Why do you hate him so much?

The show is a good example of a care home then?

I'm disappointed in it so far. Some proper laugh moments with the characters, except Kevin. And unfortunately mostly everything so far seems to be about Kevin.

He's a character, I know that, but he's not a very believable character and therefore just rather gross and unpleasant. Not embarrassing, cringy to watch like some of Gervais' best stuff is, just not 'real' and therefore a waste of effort in the show.

I'm not even sure why he's allowed to hang around the place all day, maybe I missed that being explained.

Definitely not as good as the first series. I have no problems with crude humour, swearing, violence, whatever in comedies, but it just seems misplaced here. Should've stuck to one series!

I like it. It's a shame Pilkington has gone (it seems), but even though I've no idea why Kev is there, I really like him now. I'll reserve judgement on the way Derek seems to have developed.

Can't normally stand Gervais. Really like this series though, wife manages a care home and this is very close to the truth. Bitter / sweet comedy, some lovely bits but very ugly bits too.

Sad tonight.

Although it should be good, if it happens, to see the new handyman character getting what he deserves.

Terrific episode tonight. The prolonged shot of the old dear when scummy handyman wouldn't give her the change from the fiver was heartbreaking. As was the baby booties being chucked in the bin.

This programme isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Me too. Sign of a great programme, I actually care enough to hate a character.

I know I'm a right softy, but the old guy standing up to him and supporting his friend was one of the best things I've ever seen on TV.
