sky are on my back with offers all the time. I always say do it for the same price as netflix and i will come back. Think it would be good for every one to cancel sky to give them a kick up the ass for there expensive deals . Any body else done the same and had know problems.

1Gb net connection?! Nice.

If you mean 1Mb, then you'll never get Netflix to work properly sadly.

All streamed, which does make it a bit of a no-go for you I think. There's a month free to try it though, give it a go and see if it will buffer in a sensible enough time for you.

netflixs is great but the selection of movies will get a bit thin after 6 months.

I used to use lovefim but they started only sending me films at the bottom of the 50 I had listed so I stopped using them. The most annoying thing about lovefilm is you cant cancel online you have to call. When you call they cancel you from that moment, even if you have paid until the end of the month. Plus the guy kept saying he was suspending my subscription and it would restart after 6 months. It took 15 minutes to have him cancel it. Very annoying.

There is a simple (but paid for) dns fix for Netflix that allows you to get the USA version with lots more films

Legal?

I am keen to get netflix but have been told the liscensing isn't great so they don't get many new films over here in the UK.

Also, what is the difference in content between netflix and lovefilm instant?

Netflix = no Dolby Digital soundtrack.
Fine if you've only got stereo speakers, but no good if you've got a surround sound setup.

Just change your DNS settings on your device, such as PS3 or Apple TV to the following:

Change the Primary DNS to 208.122.23.22
Change the Secondry DNS to 208.122.23.23

It's just a US DNS server - netflix does the locatoin check via that.

Very handy for jumping back and forth between UK and US content.

I did this a few months ago, and so glad I did.

I occaisionally look at the listings for Sky Movies just to see if I'm missing anything but I never am.

I don't know how Sky movies can be so poor.

Does this work on the new Apple TV3 at all, plus do you need to subscribe t anything to get it or can I just enter in the details and away we go?

Same question here really, is it possible to do this on the Apple TV3?

I also have a PS3 and LG BluRay player that run Netflix, would it be easier to do the DNS or Shield thing on either of them at all?

I found that hot shield thing to be really slow.

My connection is only 2meg so I've never noticed . What speed are you getting through it?

Right, figured it out. Those DNS setting are from a company called unblock-us.com you need to register (and pay) after a week.

There are instructions on the site, but I've put the settings into my router and all my devices (ipad, PS3, PC) are seeing the US site now. Iplayer and everything else is still using the uk sites. No problems so far and as it's not VPN my traffic still goes direct. I'll watch Senna or something later and see what the streaming from the US is like.
