All you fans of Skandyhooly noir, this is on again tonight, eps 3 & 4. Murder investigation involving a dismembered torso placed exactly half & half on the Swede/Danish border, leading to the pairing up of odd couple coppers. Not unlike the Killing & just as good to watch.

Just watched Ep 3, I'm dying to find out what Stefan the Seventies Porn Star has got to do with it all. Ep 4 coming up...

Stefan the social worker? He does look like a porn star. I'm wondering how Goran's wife fits in personally..?

..and of course there's Soren the Psycho Wife Beater. I bet he's go summat to do with it. Presumably Ep5 will have some epic Ninja action in, too?

My recorder crapped out just as the doorbell was ringing with the homeless girl whassername? So no spoilers, since I'll have to do the rest of the episode on Iplayer.

Don't worry mate, I wouldn't spoil it, it's more of a teaser to get others interested in giving it a go. I'm not sure what it is about these Scandinavian crime shows, but I'm a complete convert. The main female character in this one is fascinating, and the bloke is a great foil for her too.

Sweet. There's something not right about that guy in the flat either, banging on about assignments & fasting. Is he our man I wonder?

O/T I can highly recommend Headhunters - Norwegian black comedy. No spoilers, but well worth a look if you get the chance.

Wife and I started this on Sat via iplayer, enjoying it so far (no spoilers please).

Was a bit confused about when it was set with the 70's porn star and 80's Porsche and the mobile phones. Just going for quirky characters and settings.

Is the US remake of the Killing any good? saw it on Netflix but couldn't find the original version.

I've seen both & for me the original is vastly superior in characterisation, feel & look. But it's a subjective thing, someone will be along to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, but personally I would stick with the Danish version all day long.

I've not seen the US remake of The Killing, and I have no idea how good/bad it is, but I can think of only one reason as to why it was made, i.e. a cynical attempt to cash in on the successor the original by remaking it in a format suitable for people too lazy to be bothered to read subtitles.

Which personally I don't think to be anywhere near good enough. The original is superb, why nt watch that instead of some American derivative?

I started watching the american version of the killing, got about 6 episodes in when the beeb started repeating the Danish version. Got totally hooked on the original and never saw the end of the american one... nuff said! If you haven't seen the original, the american is not bad at all, just not a patch on the real thing.

Enjoying The Bridge too. May have to learn Danish/Swedish with all the Scandinavian TV and film I seem to be watching.

There's definitely a strong run of Skandiweegie excellence about these last few years. Did anyone get into Borgen? Is it any good?

Fully recommend Headhunters.

The Samuarai wierdo properly freaks me out - don't think it is the main perp as he seems to be quite simple and have massive memory blanks!

Yes, I did and it was very good, at least up to the point where iPlayer removed it. I need to catch it up elsewhere.

I'm really enjoying The Bridge. I like the music, Saga, Saga's 911, Martin Rohde's bemused sense of humour at Saga's weirdness and the fact that it's not full of actors I'm meant to recognise from Eastenders or Hollyoaks as it's not made in the UK.

BBC FOUR, worth the licence fee alone. The 9pm Saturday night slot has been excellent for years with Wallander, The Killing, Montalbano, Borgen, The Bridge etc.
