Ok, I did simplify that a little too much. I know the sound quality is also much better but I don't think it is worth the extra, but then again that is my opinion which means sod all!Donatello said:

There are different versions of IMAX. They brought out an 'IMAX lite' a few years ago for smaller theatres which can't accommodate the full IMAX experience.
The 'proper' full-fat IMAX is only available in the BFI London and Bradford Media Museum AFAIK. All other IMAX cinemas in this country will be their 'retrofit' versions with smaller screens and lesser projection kit.
A proper, full size IMAX experience is something you have to see, regardless of whether it's 3D or not.
IMO 3D will slowly die away as it's done every time the studios have tried to come up with something new. I'd much rather see a well-shot 2D movie with a good plot any day.
