IMAX 3D. Saw it in Real 3D last night snd it added nothing whatsoever to the experience.

The only film I thought that was worth seeing in 3D was Avatar. Everything else I've seen was a waste of the extra cash over seeing a 2D version.

IMAX is crap. It is just a slightly larger screen... nothing more...

I'm afraid its a bit more than a larger screen, particularly if the film showing as shot with IMAX camera equipment.

Indeed - I'd go for IMAX every day, although it'd be nice if it was 2D instead of the utterly ste 3D gimmick we have to put up with.

Agreed, Imax in Greenwich is fantastic, great sound, seats and screen over standard Cinema. 3D...paaar, take it or leave it tbh.

Ok, I did simplify that a little too much. I know the sound quality is also much better but I don't think it is worth the extra, but then again that is my opinion which means sod all!

Generally the angle of the seating is different too, steeper, concert style seating..

It means you get an unreal view without looking past anyone else too much.

There are different versions of IMAX. They brought out an 'IMAX lite' a few years ago for smaller theatres which can't accommodate the full IMAX experience.

The 'proper' full-fat IMAX is only available in the BFI London and Bradford Media Museum AFAIK. All other IMAX cinemas in this country will be their 'retrofit' versions with smaller screens and lesser projection kit.

A proper, full size IMAX experience is something you have to see, regardless of whether it's 3D or not.

IMO 3D will slowly die away as it's done every time the studios have tried to come up with something new. I'd much rather see a well-shot 2D movie with a good plot any day.

IMAX all the way

normal 3D just doesnt compare. I think the actual 3D effect is better.... plus the fact that if its actually been filmed in IMAX, it looks far far better.
