Mrs Columbo never appeared.
You seem to have forgotten the creator of the well used (around here anyway) acronym, She Who Must Be Obeyed. Rumpole!

You never saw Maris, Niles' wife in Frasier. There's a word/phrase/name for this, isn't there? I can't remember what it is though. Kiltie said: Interesting - anyone know? It's similar to a MacGuffin, but I think they are just called "Ghosts" or something similar?

"Margaret" the shop keepers wife in Little Britain. You hear her but never see her.

Doesn't the Major in Fawlty Towers refer to his wife a few times? Or is it always in the past tense?
Also Mrs Daley in Minder. Doh!
Norm's wife was sort of seen at the very end - she got a flan in the face.

Kiltie said: Interesting - anyone know? Actually, I was remembering a scene from Dad's Army where Mr Mainwaring and his wife were in their bomb shelter on bunk beds. He was on the lower one and you could see the upper one sagging through the, implied, weight of Mrs Mainwaring. Though the viewer never actually saw her; her "shape" was apparent, as it were. Cheers, Eric By coincidence, this was the episode they showed last night. You still didn't get to see Mrs Mainwaring. There was also the episode where she gets to play Lady Godiva in a local parade - which causes Mainwaring to faint - but you still don't get to see her.

Apparently there was staring captain janeway stupid idea. but does that count as seeing the wife. in one episode columbo gets an autograpgh for the wife. the person asks for a first name he says "mrs" we should never have found out her name just like we never see his (brief glimpse of an id card excepted)

Yeah but they retconned it as not his wife, just the same name. Here is an interesting page. http://www.columbo-site.freeuk.com/mrsc.htmEric Mc said: By coincidence, this was the episode they showed last night. You still didn't get to see Mrs Mainwaring. Love the canteen scene, British service at it's best.
