"Can you pass the salt Dear?"

"Yes I can"

"Sorry dear, I mean would you pass the salt"

"Yes Dear, if asked, I would pass the salt"

"Dear, pass me the salt please"

"Oh it's empty"

"ha ha ha ha ha"
When I read this in my head, I can hear David's voice saying it.

"Now, when you say pass the salt, do you mean pass the vessel containing the salt, or do you want me to pass you the actual grains of salt emptied from within it?"

And, I standby to be shot down, but Paul Merton, has he said more than an average of 2 things per episode in the last 2-3 years? He just seems to pull funny faces now, time for a change IMHO.
I think you're right now you mention it. He used to be what made that show funny, now it's only funny if they have the right mix of guests.

I spent the entire show watching Kirsty's top jiggle rather suggestively.

Just watched it. Merton doesn't look too well to me? Weight loss, not in a good way.

I agree about Paul Merton though. A shame because he used to be (probably still is) one of my favourite comedians. But he just does the same stuff now, very repetitive. He did go away for one series, I think another little holiday would be good for both the programme and Paul.
Whatever you do - don't go and watch his live show thats touring - that is just woeful. he's telling the same jokes he was on his C4 show nearly 20 years ago...
I paid £10 to see the first one at Hemel, and there were a lot in the audience thinking of asking for their money back.

They sound good.

I think the host (best thing they did was binning Deayton) makes a bigger impact. My favourite is still Tom Baker, Brian Blessed and Shatner come close.biggrin
Brian Blessed was one of my all time favorite shows. "Dave"

First thing Mrs Axel commented on. He's looking thin and old, hope all is OK.

I keep forgetting to watch this. Last one I saw was Shatner.

Guess I'd better get on iPlayer tonight before they go.

Anyone notice the new panel show on Wednesday?
Stations are desperate to throw any old ste (not that I know that the new one is) at the wall in the effort to recreate magic, because the best of these type of shows are amongst the best shows on television, HIGNFY, QI, Mock the Week etc.
I vaguely recall some real stinkers, some of which are still being made with the most tenuous of formats.

Victoria Coren was very funny when lambasting the psychic pig, and Kirsty Young was fab too. Ian Hislop seemed to be enjoying their company. What a fantastic episode, one of the best in recent memory. smile
Just watched it on iPlayer and I agree - very good indeed.

Sadly this was the only one still on iPlayer so I missed any between Shatner and this one.

yes
But cannot remember the name of it. But it was the one showing what you remembered over the years (?).
Not too bad.

Mock the Week is back tonight

Yeah I used to like that one, back in the Hurst days. It got stale.

I watched it.
It was O-K. Not as dire as some of the crap they try and make stick, but not a barn-burner. It might grow.

My favourite episode of HIGNFY was the first one Boris hosted - totally wrong for the job which is what made him so good.

A mere stepping stone on the path to being Mayor and maybe even the next Tory PM.

Horrible man with a Boris haircut on tonight's longer ep. A bit as if Boris had been put in the microwave for 40 seconds, and forced to smoke 200 rizlas non stop.

Jack Sparrow's dad was funny.

Good episode last night.
Combo of Brand as boss, and Rees-Smogg with Ian was great.

Her? Ah, you mean cakegob...

She's not a monkey shagger, I meant Russell Notfunnyspit Brand.

Thanks, I can relax now. It would have been the end of HIGNFY if he had chaired it.
