I can't help but think that they should have got help a LONG time ago, where are Social Services? It is unacceptable that they had to live like that.
Fantastic to watch though. Already had a bit of an emotional day, this didn't help.
Probably because she was working and paying her way, I was half watching it and sure I heard her say that she was told by someone (government agency?) that she should give up work and claim benefits as everything would be paid for.Fantastic to watch though. The downstairs was actually really well done compared with other builds
Without wanting to sound like the Daily Mail. It is actually disgraceful that any agency she went for help advised the wife to quit work and claim benefits.
Suppose having a disabled husband and two children counts for nothing. You need to be a baby factory with 10 kids and bone idle to get anything.

Yep - it was a right tear-jerker.
What an amazing woman though, agencies telling her to give up work, sell the house and claim benefits and her staying strong through-out and saying no : I love my job.
Hats off to her.
Yep, I had an itchy eye the whole show. What an amazing woman though, agencies telling her to give up work, sell the house and claim benefits and her staying strong through-out and saying no : I love my job.

It's true that she loved her job and refused to sell her house, get a council house, quit her job and live on benefits. That's what her local authority told her to do! Now, given that she has a toddler, an autistic 5 year old and a disabled husband - what a wonderful woman! Determined, caring and with very strong ethics.
The husband, Jason, had his scooter accident in the Philippines - whilst visiting family. I doubt he got very much, even if covered on travel insurance?
I love DIY SOS. It's possibly the only show that reflects goodness, selfless acts of kindness and proper charity, every time.

Yes, we all gathered that from your previous post.
Yet here you still are.
Good point!
I love this program. I think I've had a tough year, but when my mrs and myself watch this it puts our crappy year into perspective.
You see what some people are really up against, and the time and effort others are willing to put In to help them, just out of the goodness of their own hearts, it kind of restores your faith in humanity!
