I set it to record but haven't watched it yet. I had probably better avoid this thread until I do.

This "2nd half" of the series has been a LONG time coming.

Edit: Just over a year. WTaF??!

Yeah, mental.

It should be OK, I won't be commenting on it till it's aired.
THis thread is devoid of the usual tts saying, 'oh you'll really love this episode, it's great.'

I finally sat down to watch "Severance" (the mid-season première) last night and really enjoyed it. And I have two more to watch to catch up which I am now really looking forward to.

I'm a little surprised that there hasn't been more buzz on this thread. Presumably not many PHers are watching it.

Likewise!

I was rather late to the Mad Men party - I think it had reached series 5 on TV before I started to watch it from Sky's On Demand section. I blitzed through several series in the space of a couple of months last year and had just about caught up by the time of the mid-series finale. It's right up there with The West Wing and The Sopranos for me.

I'm interested to see whether it tries to provide any kind of resolution (and redemption?) for Don, or whether (rather more likely in my view) it doesn't end with a particular event but leaves it open.

Same here. I likewise discovered it via Sky's On Demand. In fact, I discovered Pan Am first (which I enjoyed), then read reviews saying "surely this is just Mad Men Lite?" so then watched Mad Men. By the time I caught up we were in S7 and it was quite a shock to then have to wait a week between episodes and then around a year for the 2nd half.

The move to McAnn seems to be the big thing...how many eps are left?
Don seems to be at a low at the moment...the waitress thing ended...he is moving out of his flat.
Not sure how I want it to end.
It'll be like the Sopranos' I reckon.

edit.
Nice lil, 'what if.'

Started watching it from the beginning late last year and am up to date with it all. Some of the best TV I've watched to be honest.

I used to fantasise I was Don and my Mrs dressed like Betty Draper. Then she left him and got fat!

He should have gotten with the fit blonde Dr

It's OK. It's a comment on the penultimate epsidoe which has aired.

ALso, this thread I created for the screenings in the UK on Sky Atlantic. So only comments on the episodes that have been screened on Sky Atlantic can be commented on, this includes the wky, 'ohh I was so disappointed/impressed with the last ep' waffle.

So Treme finished last week with a squib, and now AMC's biggest show finishes.

Is Mad Men not that popular on here? This is a surprisingly short thread. I've been watching it for about three years and think it's the best thing since The Sopranos. Very interested in how it will finish this week; not expecting anything big, probably just a hint that Don might eventually find contentment.

i a big fan, when i watch it makes me feel like a time traveler. i love how it sucks you in and when you think you know what is going on spits you out.

i think it is better than sopranos, but is a niche product, and doesn't have mass appeal.

looking forward to last episode.

There were more threads a few years ago but it's tailed off. It is one of the most popular shows in the USA. And probably polls well with the demographic of PH. biggrin

I do like it, it's a bit 'soapy' but it tells it's stories well.

Long time watcher - I think there are a dwindling few of us who have stuck through this all the way, it has not been a rating success in the UK

"Mad Men season 7 premiere pulls in just 2.3m viewers... more than a million less than season 6 did"

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-26047...

I can sort of understand why - there are episodes when I have watched it and enjoyed it but thought - nothing actually happened in that hour.

Will be very sad to see it go but so far this series it feels like they are wrapping up all the characters a litte too neatly and not very "Mad men"

Saying all of that, Series 7 opener was a brilliant 90 seconds of TV & great choice of music.

Yeah. I enjoy the slice of life style programming that it is. The Sopranos was good at that, and the Wire had an element of it as well. The camera might stop rolling but we know the story is ongoing.

Just seen the finale too. No spoilers from me but I have to say I really enjoyed it and I'm going to miss this show. I do have a pair of these glasses though to help me remember!
