Not the best. I know I'm not the target customer as most of them probably don't know what a PC is but wow is it poor. frown

lol yep my father - I refused to be filmed because I did not agree with letting them in in the first place! They approached us with the idea of giving eastbourne some publicity/helping us make a four star hotel (which we never suggested and dont particuarly want - eastbourne's three star hotels thrive and the four/five star hotels struggle - thats just how it is!). But I know hotel inspector and what angle they come in as to have a bit of drama/scandal/confrontation. For example the lady Alex who interviewed my father raised her voice to my father and said Mr Gulzar if you carry on treating customers this way it'll be just you staying in this building! My fathers reply was: "Your family owned a chain of Forte Hotels did they not? How many did you have?" "We had 40 hotels" she replied, "And today how many do you have?" , "2" was the answer. My father then said "so you went from 40 down to 2 and I went from nothing to 5 and in the last 10 years there hasnt been a year that our turnover hasnt increased at least 10% than the last, I think I know what im doing!" she then went red faced and changed the subject - that bit almost definately wont be aired! Anyways will be entertaining to watch nevertheless but im almost certain they will edit it in a bad way! At the end of the day drama/scandal/confrontation/arguements pull in viewers!
They seemed to get on fine to me. Didn't paint a negative picture of the hotel imo.

In all fairness if that was the worst bits they could come up with about Gulzar Senior it wasn't that bad.

Some nationalities deal with things differently to what we're used to.
If you don't comment/complain at the time don't whinge about it anonymously later.

Having said that the reviews are pretty bad but Gulzar Senior does come across as a bit of a character/legend.

Well that didnt go too bad lol.

In all fairness what was said was true about Trip Advisor that if you do infact go to any of the top 10 rated hotels in Eastbourne you'll find a completly different story when you visit. The smaller establishments have time to forge reviews as it is the cheapest (well free) form of advertising you can have and something we dont use! Of course not saying everyone does that but among hoteliers we know it is the case, and as I said even neighbouring hotels writing bad reviews on their competitors always happens! I'll reserve my comments about the "returning disgruntled guests" - they tried to make up a fuss that they had been robbed and retracted their statement when we offered CCTV of their corridor the entire morning... absolute bullstters and unemployed timewasters.

Rock climbing!? Eastbourne is not blackpool it does have elderly clientele, is the sunniest spot in britain, has one of the most flat surface seafronts too (wheelchair and elderly friend) so why not embrace and cater for the market which is our bread and butter and is a proven success as we have had the hotels for our 10th year this year!

But was good fun to watch and I didnt cringe too much biggrin

Maybe he's taken "blackpool rock" to it's logical conclusion - then passed it a bit, and there you go =)

No, Gulzar has stated he wasn't filmed. Aside from the fact that Arabs don't generally where Turbans.

I've just watched it on demand 5 , Mr Gulzar Snr was certainly a character. I think we can see where Gulzar Jnr got the 'If in doubt, plate it or paint it Gold' Mantra from.

It's a TV program.

I doubt any of what you've said is lost on Alex, rather she and more importantly the producers, understand what viewers at 9:00 on channel 5 want to see. A lick of paint, and a happy outcome.

She not there to actually turn the business around, for that you would have had to tune into the first series. The show is just cruising now and will probably morph into something else soon or disappear entirely.

I used to enjoy it but it's very light weight now.
