Yeees...but there is also a brake master cylinder reservoir on prominent display in the TARDIS. It's the ultimate Blue Peter BBC props department knock up in the time machine business.

Going back to the plot..... I remember Amy's Glasses from earlier in the series. Has the Doctor been looping back in the Ponds Timeline? Also the Book ends. I doubt we have seen the last of the Ponds, after a break of course. I don't think SM will use them in the same way Rose was.

I was quite surprised in the Xmas preview to see the new girl seems to be Victorian, rather than the space genius she played a few weeks ago. Wonder if they will work in a "family resemblence/ancestor" angle?

Like Gwen in "Torchwood"?

Yep, exactly like that, although thats one hell of a pure bloodline; Victorian England to the far future in outer space with no change! smile

Quite interesting that the title of that episode was We'll Take Manhattan, also the same title as a drama starring Karen Gillan when she played the 60's model Jean Shrimpton and about her affair with photographer David Bailey.

Great episode.

Plenty of opportunity for the return of the Ponds, the end of River Song is nearing and we've still got that whole "who blew up the Tardis" thing to come.

I can't help but feel that this new bird will
be a bit of a stop gap, aka Freema Agymen.

Who can tell. Christmas episodes are quite often in Victorian London from memory, as it's very Christmassy.

I agree, that's not a closed door in Dr Who terms (is anything? He's met himself numerous times and that was always a golden rule!)

I'm in the whole 'not quite satisfied but can't put my finger on why' camp.

As already posted, why not travel back to anywhere else on earth in 1939 and arrange to meet up? Plus the angels just don't work as running around baddies! The first angels episode was very very clever. The last 2 not so good.

Why didn't the producers actually kill off the characters, would have been good to see a 'darker' side. Looking forward to next episodes, hopefully a bit more entertaining.

I think it's an Angel/Timetravel thing. Otherwise surely when they new Rory was going to get sent back the first time they would have just gone and got him then and be done with it?

Errr... They did die you know, they were killed off, hence the gravestone.
Sure you can argue that the doctor can go back and get them, but he has a time machine he could do that for any dead character no matter how they die.

They didn't kill the characters off as Amy & Rory aged 20 something, but as Amy & Rory (twice) in their late 80's after a long and nice life together, even writing the Doctor a message in a book. All nice and cosy. Just could have been a bit more edgy.

But we'll keep watching it and enjoying it. biggrin

Well I liked the scary little cherub things and the gothic New York setting, but I thought this episode was a bit melodramatic and the ending wasn't very satisfying because we didn't know much about what happened to them, I presume they hadn't gone back to the hotel but were instead living in a normal 1930's New York?

Bit of a muddled plot too; a huge statue of liberty angel that can move around in a city that never sleeps; angels that you can now apparently look away from; Rory and Amy trapped in the past because they saw their future on the gravestone...? It didn't make any sense to me, tbh.

And to make matters worse, Rory's dad wasn't in it!

Sorry, but didn't the episode make a massive play of how knowledge of the past would create fixed points which the doctor would not be able to go back and change? Was nobody paying attention?

Yes but the Ponds DID change it! If Rory had kept his eyes open then there wouldnt have been a problem at the end
