The Architect is my partners brother so we found it quite interesting to watch and see the slant that was taken by the shows producer...
The original architect, or the 'save the day' architect? Was the tale portrayed correctly?

I didn't like it.
I didn't like their attitude, nor their comments about the neighbours and the neighbouring properties, many of which, I thought, looked far better than the end result.
I also thought that it stole some of the river views from next door.
I feel very sorry for their neighbours.

Looks like a mobile home, with a driving range on the balcony and a strip club in the basement.
If it were me I'd have built a nice bungalow in that gap with a bit of shrubbery to blend in. The idea would be quite the opposite, to be tucked away and only noticeable to those who looked.

That's going to be a hard house to sell if they ever wanted to:
Esate agent: "This is the wonderful house that featured on Grand Designs"
Buyer: "Oh, the one that all the Neighbours hate and spent 3 years trying to block the building permission? Sounds great, we'll make lots of friends here!"

I quite liked it too. Not a fan of the stacked boxes look (as per the last one) but the details looked pretty impressive. Those exterior tiles look fantastic, and I loved that view from the room at water level which looked out over the river. That'd make a cracking office, perhaps without the horrid lighting.
The neighbours all struck me as the type who'd complain irrespective of what went up there anyway. Wouldn't be my way of spending £1.2m but they seemed pretty smitten with it, more power to them.
