What I miss most about Chris Moyles and co was the interaction between them, and it was clear that they were all fairly close on and off air. It is shame that the team were 'broken up' and most of them have just gone off into obscurity.
There were a lot of rumours that Chris got very friendly with Dave's ex wife and it caused a rift, I know on Twitter there is still a lot of banter between most of them but not Moyles/Vittyboxst said:

Absolute is still doing me well, but I've recently changed to a 3 contract with completely unlimited data so I've taken to listening to US radio via TuneIn Radio on that, streamed through the bluetooth in the car.
Some of it is actually pretty good!
When I'm working in San Francisco I listen to: http://live105.cbslocal.com and they are quite good. Some of it is actually pretty good!
(probably not in our time morning though as they tend to have a 'problem' show at midnight, which is sometimes worth a listen as American problems are amusing)
Irritating as it works on the PC and sounds quite good as well...

Not read the whole thread yet, so apologies if this has been covered. But what is Moyles doing these days, he seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth (His mates ex-wife aside)?
Well he did Jesus Christ Superstar tour this Spring/Summer but after that I'm not sure. Not a lot.
Rumour has it he was offered a night slot on radio 1 but turned it down and that the beeb think he isn't right for radio2. Apparently he has been taken off of the beebs payroll.
He did Jesus chris superstar for a while and had the odd tv show but channel 4 are no longer willing to work with him and that thing with Stacey Solomon has been dropped.
I don't think we will see much of him again in all honesty.

Things seem to be going from bad to worse for Grimmy - now he's losing out to Radio 4

Why should Radio 1 be chasing ratings? That's not the point of a public sector broadcaster, they are supposed to offer something which the commercial sector doesn't.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2474642/Ra...

I saw this link earlier today and thought it might come up in conversation. I've not listened to R1 in a long time as Grimmy got old very fast. I gave him a chance but he's just a squarky annoying little immature nobber...Scott Mills has the same sort of show too, cant stand him.
The job should have gone to Greg James with Fearne Cotton on for the way home.
I really hope they fire him soon!

That's exactly the problem, the commercial sector has the few 15-25 year old that listen to the radio, absolutely covered, there is no need for the BBC to do it.
Sadly nobody has the 25-40 sector covered...
What do the 25-40 sector want that the commercial sector don't provide?Sadly nobody has the 25-40 sector covered...
If you want music that is unlikely to be played by mainstream radio stations there's radio 6.
Quite frankly I don't get why a commercial station doesn't pick-up Moyles and the BBC get someone inspired by John Peel to do their morning show.
The point of the BBC shouldn't be to be the most popular.

A mix of music and discussion, and the music from a decent period of time, as in a wide spread. The was some great stuff in the 80's and 90's, where as some of the stuff in the charts is just dross. If you want music that is unlikely to be played by mainstream radio stations there's radio 6.

I think the 25-40 sector want songs from 1990-2010 played every now and again, you get the odd one on things like the Radio 1 10 minute takeover and Friday drivetime on Radio 2, but they're interspersed with shouty stuff on R1 and cheesey wedding disco on R2.If you want music that is unlikely to be played by mainstream radio stations there's radio 6.
I did try Radio 6 as my main radio station at home for a few months (mainly as my radio was stuck on it and I lost the remote) and they did play some good music but most of the music they played came across as pretentious dirge to me and the guy in the mornings is awful.
